The bible is full of drama portaying persecuted christians, why then do the christians persecute others? This seems to be contradictory to their teachings.

I had a job once and worked there for over 6 months before I realized the depth of the persecution I was facing. I was shunned for not wanting to participate in an evening of prayer and celebration of christ at a christmas party. I left when they started holding hands and praying. My boss sent me to a chritian workshop on finances which he paid for and I was on the clock as well. Before maintenance meetings there was prayer which made many feel uncomforatable. I am an atheist and oppose that sort of treatment. I needed a job, the job pay was very good but and I far supassed the job requirements in ability. I endured this sort of treatment for 10 years before quitting. Everything was based on a "mission" for god, and our"mission" was to "serve". What a load of crap. My "mission" was to show up, do my job well, and get my freakin' paycheck. That was really the one that did it for me.

I am an atheist and I don't recall any time when I have been persecuted by a Christian or any other religion for that matter.
Have you got any examples or first hand knowledge? I have only lived in U.K. Germany, Aden and now Australia so perhaps you are referring to another country.
Edit: Please calm down William R. You'll have a heart attack.
Criticism and a little light hearted derision are not persecution.

Because others persecute us using crap they heard on the internet (Because everyone knows no one ever lies on the internet).
Also, everyone's been targeted at one point in time. Everyone's targeted someone else at some point. It's just how things work, there's never going to be one giant peace time where everyone gets along, deal with it. Some Atheists, I don't want to say "Persecute" exactly, it's more like "Judge using misinformation", either way, they bug us all the time. And some of us bug them. It's how things go.
And what has an actual Christian ever done to you?

Defending your beliefs against attack is not persecuting the attacker. You do realize that you are whining.
As I posted last night in answer to the "why do we persecute homosexuals" question. Christians do not persecute atheist. quite frankly if you didn't come here and attack our faith with your dogma 24/7 I doubt that any of us would even think about things like evolution or the big bang or the origins of life. It really is not worth our time to dwell on such things. It is you who cant' stand the fact that we have faith.
When you come on and attack our belief's what do you expect us to do roll over and play dead? Aren't the persecutors really on the other side?
Reported for whining

Please don't portray atheist as being helpless victims. It is insulting to those minorities who have to endure real injustice. Atheist are if anything a protected minority which enjoys much more freedom than most other citizens, especially in the realm of education. Secular-humanism is the state religion and any mention of Judeo-Christian beliefs in public life is challenged by Atheist and the ACLU as being a violation of the mythical separation of church and state. Evolution is not allowed to be scrutinized in schools, voluntary prayer is taboo, and tax dollars go to abortion clinics to ensure "natural selection" of those smart monkeys that had the audacity to developed beyond the primordial sludge pool. To suggest that you're persecuted against would be laughable if it weren't so disturbing. Ask the millions of people who have been murdered by atheist such as Mao, Stalin, Pol Pot among others if they were persecuted. Then go to any of your atheist brethren's posts on this site and tell me that they are not filled with hate. You wonder why people might be angry and fearful of you it's because without God you have no basis for morality beyond your instinct to survive, and as I have mentioned, historically that doesn't always bode well for those who oppose you. Despite all this as Christians we know that God is ultimately in control and he has commanded us to love you despite your failure to believe in him. As hard as it is sometimes, I would rather please God than persecute you. Something I hope you understand some day.

True christians don't persecute atheists. They know that God gave us all a free will. Those who choose not to believe are perfectly within their rights to either reject, or accept God.

you have some distinctive questions right here, i'm going to purpose answer each and each on it is own advantage. First atheist have self belief there is no God and Agnostic do no longer understand if there's a God, those 2 words do no longer compliment one yet another. a million. A. Christians are "by no ability" commanded to purpose to coerce society. it is commanded to proclaim to actuality to persons. Now no count if or no longer they have self belief "the certainty" is as much as them. even whilst Christianity replaced into and nevertheless is below persecution from governments it remains to proclaim actuality to persons no longer society as an entire. B. the 2d portion of your question begs the question "what's actuality?" we are all persuaded/coerced/inspired by distinctive varieties of media; books, information, commentary, human beings, golf equipment, church homes, television, Radio, faculties, mom and father and so on... Christians at the instant are not born yet they're converted by the comparable media as Atheist are converted. we've come to have self belief that Christianity is authentic and Atheism isn't and Vice-versa for the Atheist. 2. A. Christians are by no ability commanded to tension their attitude on everybody, yet as human beings inquire we are commanded to describe the desire that's in us (occasion: why we've self belief in a heaven and a hell or why we are crammed with excitement) and to shelter why we've self belief it is authentic. If a Christian tries to tension their attitude on everybody they're incorrect and are performing exterior the instructions of the Bible. 3. A. particular, I do think of it is ideal; as any business enterprise/man or woman has a precise in this u . s . to effect politics with regard to their schedule. yet "our schedule is by no ability" to make "Christianity the sole faith" our schedule is in simple terms interior the climate of ethics, morals and man or woman rights. undergo in strategies all and sundry is politicking on what they have self belief to be authentic. We have self belief those viewpoints as a results of fact we've self belief them to be authentic, precise, and in simple terms. it incredibly is what politics is all approximately; Homosexuals have a precise, as plenty as a results of fact the PETA human beings do, has plenty as Liberals, conservatives, conspiracy theorist do, and "particular" whilst Athieist do. yet as Christians we are to grant honor and admire to any type/variety of goverment that's in value, so as that our existence isn't politics yet in God who controls goverments.

It's a common (not EVERYONE mind you) mentality that the Christians are always persecuted, I don't know why, it's some anomaly that has been integrated into the faith.
