Tennis anyone, rollerblade, river rafting, etc not much expenditure.Problem taking advice from the young is they are always reaching out to peer pressure and to be better or as good as the best. Qulity bikes like Yahama,Honda etc,can be fun but espensive ,perhaps rent once in a while. Its good to see you're interested,go for it.

Kudos for you wanting to spend some quality time with your son...I think it's great! You both will benefit greatly from it.
Go to a local bike shop...one that specializes in bikes of all kinds..and ask someone there for their help...it will be the BEST way for you to educate yourself...from someone who knows what they are talking about...and who can SHOW you what you need to know...
There are too many people on this forum who are going to give you some bad advice (either out of plain meanness or they are just too young...)...since you want to make sure you and your son are safe..professional advice is the way to go...they should be more than happy to help you at any bike shop..and if not, find one you feel comfortable with...
I hope you and your son have a fun and SAFE time!!!

frisbee golf - go to the park - decide on a target 50-100yds away - then count the number of throws to get to the target

a light pole - slide - tree - fire hydrant

and either have to 'hit' it or get within 5 feet when it lands

will save more gas and fewer injuries than dirt bikes

and more exercise

best of luck

For less money you could get really nice mountain bikes. Better excercise, no noise, cleaner, and just as dangerous and fun...

Myself, I would choose rock climbing, preferably outdoors. It's an amazing sport that is really life-long, and I would reccomend it to anyone.
