He has been to the vet twice for this. They say his eyes are sunk back in his head a little bit and collect junk. They gave him sauve but it is only a temorary fix. Has anyone had this problem with their dog, please help?

I also have a black lab and have the same problem with her eyes. Just keep a box of tissues handy and keep the eyes clean...I know its pretty gross but thats about all you can do.

If you have been to the vet, and he/she sees no cause for alarm, then you have two options: accept what the vet says or get a second opinion. My first lab's eyes were constantly running, my second lab's eyes do the same, but not as bad. Is your lab a purebred? My two are not, so I am thinking either this is consistant with a lab breed, or the other breed. I did not ask for any drops, since my vet saw no cause for alarm. I just use a tissue and wipe the eyes. If you notice this more in the summer, it could be seasonal allergies(yes, dogs have allergies). It could also be year round allergies. Your dog could be allergic to something in your home. They could be allergic to food, etc. Watch your dog and see when the drainage is at its worst. Hope this helps.

as long as its not a major medical problem, you just have to keep cleaning his face. my cocker had a bunch of eye boogies often, but he was fine. thats just the types of things you have to deal with sometimes with your pets.

they are like children so you got to luv'em!
