Yes, I know what you mean. I think the more we study the Bible, the more we realize there's much more than we ever imagined that we could learn. The Word is fresh every day and by that I mean when you have studied a passage once...you can go back to the same passage later and get even more from it than the first time. It's amazing, isn't it? The Word is truly alive and grows within you as you devour it.

I think the Bible is a great tool for guidance but by studying it we really suck a lot of the joy in the message out. It's the same with anything - School can take a great subject like music and make it the most dreaded lesson! The whole point of Jesus was to leave us with the holy spirit inside and find the answers within. So really, you know everything already, it just takes a bit of searching. The Bible can really help to find these answers within, but only if used in the right way. I find it ironic that people manage to take this book of goodness and misrepresent all that is said.
The problem with any book is you can twist the words to say what you want them too, twisting your soul is a much more painful process when you have a conscience.

Maybe not ironic. But it is a revelation to realize WE know so little compared to the Almighty God!

We start out thinking we have a great understanding of the world, but under submission to the Holy Spirit, I discover on a regular basis how little I know, and how much He knows.

Cool, isn't it. Humbling, and just plain wonderful in my estimation.

I may know what you are getting at but this is how I put it. If we know how to properly read the Bible (one should learn proper hermeneutics) then the more we read the Bible the more we'll know about God and everything else he has revealed to us in his word. That being said the more we read the Bible the more we'll see that there is a lot we don't know about God. If we could fully understand God then he wouldn't be God.

the best way to understand religion is by studying the bible your self , while keeping an open mind and disregarding what you`ve already been told , once you have done that ,find out as much as you can about the verses that were tampered with and the parts that were omitted . Believing corrupted teaching will learn you nothing .In fact the bible warns about that more than once .

I think i understand what you are saying but i wouldn't call it ironic. The problem is people who take the Bible literally, the Bible contains good ideas about religion and how we should act towards each other but it was written over 2000 years ago and contains a lot of out of date views.

The Bible is the True word of God that has never been disproved... if you are referring to the knowledge of science which many times has been disproved... well thats self explaining for even the most knowledgeable one as yourself...

The more I study, the more the Holy Spirit opens my eyes to the truth

No. The more one studies the Bible, the more one realizes that it's a poorly-written and poorly-compiled book of fairy tales.
