May you be poor in misfortune Rich in blessings Slow to make enemies Quick to make friends But rich or poor, quick or slow, May you know nothing but happiness From this day forward

May the face of every good news and the back of every bad news be toward us.

Like the goodness of the five loaves and two fishes,Which God divided among the five thousand men,May the blessing of the king ywho so divided be upon our share of this common meal.

May the road rise to meet you may the wind be always at your back the sun shine warm upon your face the rain fall soft upon your fields and until we meet again may God hold you in the hollow of his hand.

May the roof above us never fall in, and may we friends gathered below never fall out.

May the strength of three be in your journey.

May peace and plenty be the first to lift the latch on your door and happiness be guided to your home by the candle of Christmas.

In the New Year may your right hand always be strong

St. Patrick was a gentleman who through strategy and stealth drove all the snakes from Ireland heres a toasting to his health. But not too many toastings lest you loose yourself and then forget the good St. Patrick and see all those snakes again.

May there be a fox on your fishing hook and a hare on your bait and may you kill no fish until St. Brigids Day.

The health of the salmon and of the trout that swim back and forward near the bulls mouth Dont ask for saucepan jug or mug down the hatch drink it up.

Heres to you and yours and to mine and ours and if mine and ours ever come across you and yours I hope you and yours will do as much for mine and ours as mine and ours have done for you and yours.

May you have warm words on a cold evening a full moon on a dark night and the road downhill all the way to your door.

May there be a generation of children on the children of your children.

Heres that we may always have a clean shirt a clean conscience and a guinea in our pocket.

Heres a health to your enemies enemies.

Heres health and prosperity to you and all your posterity and them that doesn't drink with sincerity that they may be damned for all eternity.

Rye bread will do you good Barley bread will do you no harm, wheaten bread will sweeten your blood, oaten bread will strengthen your arm.

May you live to be a hundred years with one extra year to repent.

May I see you grey and combing your childrens hair.

Health and long life to you,the woman of your choice to you,a child every year to you, land without rent to you and may you die in Ireland.

The health of the salmon to you a long life,a full heart and a wet mouth.

May the grass grow long on the road to hell for want of use.

May the lord keep you in his hand and never close his fist too tight on you.

Cab rides; At the end of a party like this, make sure you have plenty of designated drivers to bring the guests home.

Sláinte (to your health)

Music - Get Celtic and East Coast music and of course Irish. Some Irish bands: U2, Van Morrison (Canadian) Spirit of the West etc Decor - Go to the Dollar Store or Buck Or Two and ask if they still have St Pats stuff in the back. It's super cheap so you can get a lot of stuff. Oversize shamrock sunglesses, green and white streamers, balloons, hats, plates, cups napkins etc. Food - An awesome meal to feed several people easily is Irish Stew (if you don't eat lamb, just sub in something else) but it can sit in a simmering pot the whole time. Just like Chili for a superbowl party. Contest - get everyone who's invited to search for a traditional Irish toast (even if you're drinking juice) Give a gift certificate to a local Irish pub to the best toast. If you like watching movies, get the special edition dvd of The Commitments. (You can give it to him as a gift.) If he likes Irish, he will love the movie. If you're not sure you can rent it from Blockbuster, I know they have it. On that note, they did two soundtrack albums which would make for awesome background music for the party. May you arrive in heaven a half hour before the devil knows you're gone - cheers.

You can make all kinds of Irish food such as:
Corned beef and cabbage
Colcannon
Boxty potato cakes
Irish soda bread
Irish stew
Potato soup
Baked fish
Roasted salmon with leeks
Spiced beef
Beef braised in Guinness
Shepherd's Pie
Spiced pork roast
Bacon and cabbage
Roasted chicken with parsley sauce
Stuffed leg of lamb
Grilled lamb chops
Apple cake
Summer pudding
Barm brack
Apple crumble
Irish brown bread

Serve with lots of Irish beer and you can make this drink to serve with it even though it's not Irish but it's green:

Swamp Frog:
750 ml dry gin
750 ml vodka
4 liters lemon-lime soda
2 packets lemon-lime Kool-Aid mix

Place all ingredients in a large cooler and mix well. Stir in one large bag of ice to chill. Serve in green cups with shamrocks to go with your theme.

make it 'luck of the irish' theme to be blunt about it. have fun hats for everyone to wear. have a shamrock cake, have rainbows and pots of gold everywhere. get the chocolate golden coins and put them on the tables. get green shamrock necklaces, buy the green beer. play irish music, he can wear a kilt, have someone guest and play bagpipes, use green tablecloths, sprinkle them with green and gold glitter, and most of all...have fun
