So, Matt, what are we having for dinner? An appetizer generally compliments the meal you're serving and a dessert ties it up nicely. Here are some ideas:
1. Antipasta Platter: salame, sopressata, provolone, pepperoncini, olives, marinated artichoke hearts and mushrooms.
2. Dessert: Ice Cream Cake: 1 layer chocolate fudge cake, 1 layer coffee ice cream, 1 layer chocolate ganache, 1 layer dulce la leche, 1 layer whipped cream.
3. Tortilla chips and hot chili cheese dip: 1 package cream cheese, 1 can chunky chili, 1 cup cheddar cheese, 1/2 cup sour cream, 3 T sliced olives, 3 T salsa. Spread softened cream cheese in pie plate, top with chili and cheddar. Heat in microwave until bubbling and cheese has melted. Top with salsa, sour cream, and sliced olives. Sprinkle with chopped flat leaf parsley if desired.
4. Creme De Menthe sundaes: rich vanilla ice cream topped with 2 T creme de menthe, served with Pepperidge Farm cookies.
5. Shrimp and crab platter on ice, served with lemon wedges and cocktail sauce.
6. Chocolate fudge cake with vanilla ice cream
Whatever your heart desires!

you cant go wrong with the buffalo wing chicken dip!!
This is my MOST requested appetizer for my brother and all his friends...and there are never any leftovers!
INGREDIENTS
2 (10 ounce) cans chunk chicken, drained
2 (8 ounce) packages cream cheese, softened
1 cup Ranch dressing
3/4 cup pepper sauce, such as Franks® Red Hot®
1 1/2 cups shredded Cheddar cheese
1 bunch celery, cleaned and cut into 4 inch pieces
1 (8 ounce) box chicken-flavored crackers
DIRECTIONS
Heat chicken and hot sauce in a skillet over medium heat, until heated through. Stir in cream cheese and ranch dressing. Cook, stirring until well blended and warm. Mix in half of the shredded cheese, and transfer the mixture to a slow cooker. Sprinkle the remaining cheese over the top, cover, and cook on Low setting until hot and bubbly. Serve with celery sticks and crackers.
And for dessert..cake works! or a brownie..cookie tray is inexpensive and easy as well!

you can never go wrong with chocolate puddings for dessert. It is suitable for any formal occasions as well. If you want to make it special, try almond puddings.
For appetizers, serve calamari rings/onion rings with a mayo sauce. Each person will get at least 6 rings a plate.
