My dad is type II and was actually always thin and definitely thinner than his brothers who didn't inherit it. He does jog everyday and lifts light weights a couple times a week. As far as eating, stick to low-fat and low-sugar like your doctor recommends. My dad even gets sugar free cough drops even though the regular ones don't have a lot of sugar. I don't know his drug combos.

I lost 90 pounds on the Atkins' diet almost 7 years ago. I kept my carb intake under 30 grams each day. I did not cheat and I was never hungry. Now I take no medication for diabetes II and I can eat anything in moderation. I cannot exercise because of a spinal cord injury. My glucose levels have been great for six years.

The signs of having a pending dabetic condition that needs immediate medical attention is losing a lot of weight. Losing weight slowly by cutting down on sugar and drinking plenty of fluids is the best route. I'm addicted to water, I drink at least a gallon a day. It's so refreshing and great for your liver, pancreas and kidneys. A need for thirst is also a less threATENING sign of a possible borderline diabetic.
walking rowing and swimming are good exercises, but tak to your doctor first. My favorite is the Ab Lounge. Remember to take water breaks between exercises ever 15 minutes, very important.

There is one formula for loosing weight.

Consume fewer calories than what you burn.

To increase your calorie burn, walk. You don't even have to do it outdoors. Go to your favorite mall, and walk from end to end several times.

When you go to an office building, take the stairs.

On the calorie side of things, what you eat will make a difference. Refined and processed foods are the worst. The chemicals they contain put an extra load on your liver and your liver has a great responsibility in helping your body regulate your glucose levels.

A diet rich in fresh fruits and vegetables will provide you with nutrition and provides a lower density of calories. Because your body is usually craving nutrition and not calories, you will also find you don't want to eat as much if you make your dietary choices based on fresh fruits and vegetables as often as possible.

The juices of fruits and vegetables are not as good for you though. The insulin reponse of a glass of fresh orange juice is much, much higher than if you ate the orange itself.

Don't move to artificial sweeteners. Here's the secret: you don't need for things to be sweet. Your ancestors didn't. They enjoyed the taste of real food and you can too. Artificial sweeteners are also toxic to the liver and that means your immune system is going to spend more time trying to deal with that chemical swill and less time correcting the other problems within.

Hi, my mum had the same problems, how she conquered them was to go for a daily walk, just short walk to start with then slowly adding more. She changed to a low carb diet but ate lots of rice dishes, her doc watched her closely and in the end she was put on a lower dose of medication and is really doing well now. She makes lots of no sugar smoothies with fresh fruit and veggies too. I hope this helps a little.

My mom was very overweight, and was using insulin for her type two diabetes. She went to a new internist doctor, who took her off the insulin, and put her on two kinds of pills. She lost probably 40 pounds in about 4 months time, without even trying! Her metabolism didn't need that injectable type insulin. Maybe see another specialist?

i lost 2 stone in 2 months just by not eating anything with sugar in it sounds hard but believe me its not that hard i didn't eat any red meat only things like chicken and fish i ate carbs with every meal like wholemeal pasta,4 potatoes(size of boiled eggs)and plenty of salad and vegs bought some diabetic chocolate from thorntons and boots had porridge for breakfast and bought a recipe book for diabetics and the weight just fell off i also walked for 30mins a day run up and down the stairs for 30mins to now i am at my correct weight my diabetic nurse was very pleased with me ,i know eat a diet to maintain my weight the book i use a lot is called complete cookery diabetic heres the link to buy it

hope this helps the main thing is cook everything yourself and that way you know whats going in pre cooked meals from the shops are full of sugar and salt and a lot of fat

yes indeed swim everyday all the time as much as u can or ur able to this worked for me. i have heard of diffrent medication but i think it only works if ur given the wrong one not to sure on that one i spose it is diffrent for everyone but swimming is a good way to help u lose weight in proportion like it should be otherwise ull end up with saggy bits lol,
