I have been working real hard to get the word out about animal cruelty in vegan section of Yahoo! Answers. However, I have been encountering a lot of hateful people who never have anything positive to say. I even saw a thread titled "Anyone else sick of Ashley the annoying veggie!?" and it really has me shaken up that people can hate me so bad and I haven't done anything wrong. It really has me so stressed out right now that I am literally shaking. What is the best way to handle all this negativity?

Stick to your guns & maintain your beliefs. You're not going to let a bunch of low-life morons deter you are you? Sticks and stones and all that, right? Rise above it; you are better than that (and them). Take care.

Could I suggest that you may have more luck, effect and satisfaction in using a different medium?

"I have been working real hard to get the word out about animal cruelty in vegan section of Yahoo! Answers."

You are right, it is Yahoo! Answers - not Yahoo! Soapbox.

There must be loads of magazines, pamphlets and organisations that would benefit from voluntary work of some kind. Just be careful - all of the nutters on the internet exist in the real world as well. Some are quite capable of using self referential rhetoric to justify some pretty horrid things.

Who the hell do you think you are? You don't have the right to tell a person what to eat, feel, think etc.

You want us to feel sorry for you because you couldn't stop whinging? You have brought this on yourself. Keep your big nose out of other peoples business.
God gave us dominion over animals, plants seeds etc. This is our food source and have been since the time of the cave men.

If you stop preaching, and mind your own business, you won't be hated. Have you put yourself in a non vegetarians shoes? Have you tried to see it from our point?? No of course not cause you think you are right. Well.. you're Wrong.

If you like we can post the same hateful question YOU DID.
By asking: How do we Handle Vegetarians????

You don't see us lynching non meat eaters. You make me sick you whiny pathetic self indulgent self important idiotic irresponsible ridiculous woman.

As a vegetarian I have to say have never gotten any rude remarks from the carnivores I meet when I share that I'm a vegetarian... occasionally a raised eyebrow, like "wow, how do you do that" and more often than not almost a respect of "wish I could do that but I'm not strong enough". Presentation is everything, make it sound positive, something your happy with and when people want to make that choice they will ask for your input. Of course that's in person, online experience has been similar though. Nothing wrong with believing in it, and expressing it, but putting people on the defensive is not going to win them over to the cause. Good luck

Frankly, the best way to deal with it is just to ride it out and develop a thicker skin. There is no point in stressing yourself out to the point that you make yourself ill. You're never going to be able to have every person out there like you or agree with your opinions, but that is what makes the world go round. I am sorry to hear that you've been getting a lot of negative criticism for your beliefs, but that is often what does happen when you stand up for what you believe in, esp. when most people out there don't agree with you. I think the other problem too is that your approach is probably really off-putting to many out there. I myself eat meat, and you might think I'm vile or ignorant for what I believe in or do, but that is really up to me. You have to remember that everyone out there has an opinion, and just like you, is entitled to believe what they do. If you want to get the word out there and encourage them to change their lifestyle habits, all you can do is inform them, but give that person the option of being able to choose just as you had the right to make your choice. The ultimate decision is dependent on the other person, only when and IF they wish to do so.

you are able to no longer attempt and alter Someones Values And Morals with out awaiting Heavy Resistance, extraordinarily Over the internet. If somebody Is fascinated in turning out to be A Vegan they'll persist with by With It because of the fact of their very own comments and suggestions no longer because of the fact of stress From a team of persons. the ultimate thank you to handle This Hate Is to end Feeding The Flame end Posting On factors of interest Like those the place There Are some Many Ignorant human beings, Be A Proud Vegan yet do no longer attempt and alter human beings. in my view, i come across It insufferable To Be around somebody Who Feels So Strongly a pair of concern (Like faith, etc.) That It Takes Over Their entire character and that i come across It only demanding. i desire you detect this effective.

Sorry Ashley, but people are negative to you because you are trying to force your ways on them.

I'm against animal cruelty, but I still eat meat. I can be both. I use meat as a food source. The meat I eat I've seen killed on some occasions on a farm or abattoir. It is humanely done.

Your personal choice is your own, and though you're very passionate about it, I think it's best not to point fingers at people, condemn them for eating meat. It's good to have an oppinion, but people who eat meat don't abuse animals. Remember this.

It's just the internet, don't get so worked up about it.

You need to understand that everyone is different. You cannot preach about animal cruelty because some people just dont see the point. There will always be meat eaters no matter how much you go on about it. I am vegetarian but I dont harp on about it. It seems you really are annoying everyone. Just stick to your veggies and let others get on with their meat.

People probably feel this way about you because your comments come across as biased, self righteous and without consideration for other people.

I can guarantee you are not a middle aged 40-year-long veggie.

Your comments are typical of those of young people who have recently ( <5 years ) become veggies. Am i right ?

The best way to handle meat-eaters is to present ( if asked for ) your views in a logical, calm and reasonable manner.

Lying ( eg - "all dairy bulls have thier throats slit on the farm" ) is not reasonable and unnecessary.

Nobody hates you, honey, but basing all of your questions around one slightly specialized topic implying criticism of all those who don't follow your dietary regime can irritate some people. Haven't you noticed the hateful comments directed against Christians by non-Christians? I just noticed one question that read "Why Are Black Girls So Ugly?" If you were Black how would you feel after seeing that on Yahoo! Answers. Perhaps you are a little too sensitive for this forum or maybe you should change direction slightly to educate rather than criticize. But look on the bright side. You're famous on Yahoo! Answers after less than two weeks - not many people achieve that. Take care of yourself and keep the faith. Love and kisses

If you let something like a diet become a political issue, I'm sorry to say this love, but it IS annoying.

The fact is that most domesticated animals are bred for their meat or their milk, and if we didn't eat them, they would be extinct long ago, because they would be in direct competition with humans for vegetable resources. Think about it. By NOT eating meat, you could be contributing to the demise of animal species, in theory.

However, as too many of us like meat as a food for this ever to become a likelihood, it might be better to consider how the meat that is consumed by humans is reared. I am a meat eater, yes, but I do not buy battery-farmed meat, only organic. In addition to battery-farmed meat being full of growth hormones and other nasties, there is also the fact that these animals were forced to live in unnatural and cramped conditions, and in some cases were declawed, debeaked to prevent 'inconvenient and unprofitable' fighting among these animals - which would be the case as any creature forced to live the way they do would fight for a bit more space.

No doll, you're not doing anything wrong in sticking up for what you believe in, but in order for it to be convincing, you need to examine the real situation, and take the real issues on board. So educate yourself.
