Have the cake made to look like 2 playing cards and use poker chips to sprinkle out on the tables like confetti. Go with red and black colors to decorate. Pick up a few of those BIG dice that some people use to hang from thier rear view mirror to set out on the tables or to decorate with. ( can be found at The Dollar General stores, Walmart or Auto Zone) Do ya have one of those big rugs that people hang on the wall with the dogs playing cards??? Sounds like fun!

Definitely fancy sandwiches. (After all, the Earl of Sandwich was playing cards when the sandwich was invented according to lore!) Lots of hors d'oerves too. For music I'd go with Sinatra/Rat Pack music. Any of the crooners from the 60's. Sounds like a fun party!

gown up as hula human beings and play the ukulele and drums. And serve beverages in coconuts with straws. and have a pinata that appears like a pineapple and be tickets to a flight to Hawaii interior! And a hula contest. And Hawaiian music on. The cake must be a pineapple upside-down cake! There must be a pool there, too, to swim in no count if it is in the process the warmth season. Streamers! Coconut beverages and Hawaiian Punch! Salmon and Craw fish! Tickets to Hawaii! Hawaii right here I come, permit's proceed the occasion!

I would suggest low background music, so as not to distract players, not necessarily classical but neutral. Food, finger food, cold buffet, so people can snack between hands and plenty of alcohol. I'm doing this for my birthday in June, hope yours goes well.

Hmm. Ifyou are going to encourage them to drink and play poker, you should separate the two activities.
Perhaps a direction sign " Liquor in the front, poker in the rear" would be useful?

Classics like Sinatra and other Vegas style singers.
Definately finger foods, like cheese stacks on toothpicks, with olives, pepperoni, sausages, etc.
