hi!im JV from Philippines... yesterday i was watching this foreign soap opera that shows a couple talking (It was WINTER) and there was this kind of "gas" coming from their mouth.. how do you Call that in English? a frind suggested it as "smoke", but im in doubt.. help pls

Technically it would be called condensation-when the warm moisture in your breath hits the colder outside air the relative humidity becomes 100% and the moisture condenses.

You don't see gas as you exhale. What you see is water vapor condensing in air that is already saturated to near 100% humidity. (You have fog and zero visability at 100% humidity) This phenomenon is not exclusive to winter. You can see this any time the air is saturated and cannot hold any more water.

carbon dioxide. you exhale carbon dioxide when you breathe. that is what you are seeing. you are seeing it because your breath is warm, and the air is cold so the mositure in your breath is condensing.
