Try dumping a few gallons of bleach in a nearby pond and just slosh around in a shallow part, it's the only thing that worked for me.

I saw this show about carbon dating. It involves a lot of turning matter into liquid, into gas, etc so to get rid of your carbon footprint, I guess you need a science degree! ;-)

For me, I have found that lacquer thinner works best.
