I am just a hypochondriach or something... Cuz I took aldara after reading that some people carry the virus without any symptoms.. I wanted to kill anything hiding that could be transmitted. What happened, was I got jock itch.

All drugs have side effects. Some side effects are worse than others and some side effects affect different people in different ways.

I used Aldara for 5 weeks to clear up genital warts. The only side effects I had were dry skin and itchiness. I never had herpes like sores, even though I have genital herpes. It never triggered a herpes outbreak for me, but I imagine it could for other people who have genital herpes along with genital warts caused by HPV.

Did you completely clear up the warts? You might have stopped the medication too soon and it never completely got rid of the warts. Have you ever been tested for genital herpes? You might have it and just never knew. I'd suggest you see a doctor and have them take a look at you. Good luck!

It is unlikely if not almost impossible for Aldara to still be causing side effects after 2 weeks. Talk to your doctor about what could be causing the sores, it may be the condition you were trying to treat.

There are two types of herpes simplex virus: HSV-1 and HSV-2. Both virus types can cause sores around the mouth (herpes labialis) and on the genitals (genital herpes). Cold sores are caused by the herpes simplex virus (HSV).
Cold sores sometimes called fever blisters, are groups of small blisters on the lip and around the mouth. The skin around the blisters is often red, swollen, and sore. The blisters may break open, leak a clear fluid, and then scab over after a few days. They usually heal in several days to 2 weeks.
The herpes simplex virus usually enters the body through a break in the skin around or inside the mouth. It is usually spread when a person touches a cold sore or touches infected fluid—such as from sharing eating utensils or razors, kissing an infected person, or touching that person's saliva. A parent who has a cold sore often spreads the infection to his or her child in this way. Cold sores can also be spread to other areas of the body.

Aldrea caused me to feel itchy and red and burn.. Thats normal because it is slowly burning off any warts.. But if you shaved while using the aldera , it could be irritated razor bumps. Go back to your doctor like i did they will give you something else, or hopefully not tell you that you have herpes. Only they will know!
