All drugs have side effects. Some side effects are worse than others and some side effects affect different people in different ways.

I used Aldara for 5 weeks to clear up genital warts. The only side effects I had were dry skin and itchiness. I never had herpes like sores, even though I have genital herpes. It never triggered a herpes outbreak for me, but I imagine it could for other people who have genital herpes along with genital warts caused by HPV.

Did you completely clear up the warts? You might have stopped the medication too soon and it never completely got rid of the warts. Have you ever been tested for genital herpes? You might have it and just never knew. I'd suggest you see a doctor and have them take a look at you. Good luck!

Possibly because I have the same kind of sores on the pubic area where the pubic hair grows. I recently stopped using Aldara because of severe burning and itching. I was tested for herpes and it came back negative but I thought I had it because of those sores. I am going to go get tested again for herpes in a week. Where are your sores located?
