Gee, that's too bad. I really like the Boca "Flame Grilled" burgers and all natural Italian sausage. Also, Morningstar makes "Chick Nuggets" that sure fooled me when I first became a vegetarian. I ran and got the box to make sure there wasn't any meat! I made spaghetti sauce with their "meat crumbles", and a friend of mine couldn't tell the difference. But if you don't like any of them, well, don't eat them. You can get your protein from dairy, eggs, and nuts. And since your body's requirements are probably so low (you only need 2-3 servings a day), it's easy to fit in your protein!

I don't mind some of them, but I have found that the best vegetarian cooking doesn't use meat substitutes. I've learned that if you offer 3-4 vegetarian dishes, and include differences in texture, temperature and tastes, it's much more satisfying than a starch, a veg, and a meat substitute..
For example, I might have
1) a salad, baked potato and asparagus or broccoli soup with crackers (includes dry & wet, crisp & soft, hot & cold, salty & sweet), or
2) a rice and vegetable stir fry and fruit topped with yogurt and cereal, (same contrasts as before), or
3) oatmeal bread, a little dish of pickles and olives, a bunch of grapes and a casserole of scalloped mixed vegetables (hot & cold, crisp and soft, wet & dry, sweet, sour, salty and pungent tastes, creamy and plain).
The idea is to get away from copying meat and potatoes style eating and capitalize on the variety that a vegetarian diet can provide.
Good luck to you!

The best meat substitute was actually a vegetable. It was a portabello mushroom cooked in garlic and olive oil, salt and pepper. It was served on a bun with mozzarella cheese and tomato. It tasted just like a burger! Morning Star makes mushroom burgers that are great too. Bocha also makes a ground meat substitute that I put in pasta sauce. Soooo good!

I'm a meat eater so it's not something I follow, but I had a veggie version of deli meat that was good- I actually couldn't tell the difference from the real deal in a sandwich, which is surprising because so many are awful. Now if you take away the bread & condiments that might be different, but the basic taste and texture was right.
It was in my friend's fridge, I'll have to ask them what brand it was...
Oh and Sister M, not all vegetarians are against it on principle, plenty of people do it simply for health reasons- they love the taste but don't want the unhealthy fats. Ask some people who've had heart attacks and had to change their diets.

I like the morningstar farms mushroom burgers, chick'n nuggets, and corn dogs. I also like the tofurky deli slices. They are good on a sandwich with avocado, cucumber and lettuce. Oh and I have had some wonderful sundried tomato Italian "sausages" I don't klnow the brand but they were really great and worked nice as an alternative at a cookout.

I am allergic to them, but dont care for the way they look and smell. I tried them for my veggie daughter and she gagged, said they were gross. To me, the whole idea of fake meat is gross-if I dont want the real thing, why would I want the phoney stuff. I do like sunflower burger patties though-they are made with ground rice, sunflower seeds, and spices-very tasty. My daughter likes a burger made from grilled portabello mushrooms.
