I had pnuemonia last week and am done with my antibiotics but am still coughing phlegm up. Yesterday I was coughing and now my right lung hurts. It's not like a pulled muscle, I had that last week. It's right on the side of my rib bone. What could this be? Should I call my dr?

Yes, you should definitely call your doctor. I've had pneumonia quite a few times, it sounds like you need another course of antibiotics, some strains are harder to get rid of. If it is viral pneumonia, you will just have to wait it out for the most part, but doctors will give you antibiotics to prevent secondary infection.

I had the same pain with mine, and it was pleurisy, from coughing so much. It doesn't feel like a pulled muscle, it's a weird pain that's hard to describe. But, since your pain is along the rib bone, you very well may have cracked a rib coughing, it can happen.

Either way, please call your doctor, if you have finished your antibiotics and are still sick, you may need an extended course, or a different antibiotic.

Hope you feel better soon!

It sounds like you have strained serratous anterior muscle. Which is very possible due to your coughing. Some orthopedic test could quickly distinguish between this and another problem. if it persists for a long time then i would see a dr.

Call your doctor immediately!
Or, maybe a better idea would be checking yourself into a hospital first. I hope you feel better.
