I agree with your mom on this one. 16 is young. You have no idea how tough life is out there. I'm afaid while you are under her roof, you have to follow her rules, and you say you want to move out, but you are 16. You have no idea how tough it is to live on your own. Please listen to your mom on this one. She's right.

Your parents probably don't trust your judgment based on your age and your past history. If you want them to trust you. Begin to work at showing them your trustworthy. Take care of all of your responsibilities in life (home, school, work) with care and timeliness. If you don't have a job maybe find one. Beginning to earn a wage and become experienced in the work force is great way to show your parents that your acting responsibly as an adult would. They just want to trust that you can make it in this world w/o them and not get horribly hurt (physically/emotionally) along the way. I'd wouldn't move so quickly, take your time and leave when it's financially good for you, your still young and won't be making much for a few years (no trade school/university ???? : ( Negotiate w/ your mom about having times to come and go as you please w/ conditions (u won't miss time, she can always contact u, u won't drink, drugs, sex, etc) and maybe in return for agreeing to it you can pick up some extra chores around the house.

She is afraid that you will make a mistake and possibly get pregnant. It is probably not that she does not trust you, but that she doesn't trust the temptations of the world. She figures that you are still not experienced enough yet to realize how serious the consequences of adult decisions can be.

Why don't you concentrate on going to college now? In a couple of years you will be 18, and will have 2 years of college behind you.

Yes, better to listen to mum...you can't do much on your own until you're 18. It isn't that she dosen't trust you....she just dosen't want you to put yourself in a difficult situation. This is one of the times it's better to listen and follow her advice. You are very fortunate to have a mom who cares so much.

I don't see how you can win this one. Just stick it out until you become an adult.
