i live in st. louis, mo...i can't drive to or from work without having to make a evasive manuever to avoid a wreck.now, this is the weird thing..st. louis drivers come in number 1 in the "freindliest drivers" catagory in the country yet the insurance industry has deemed us as the "worst drivers" in the country..(the insurance folks are very smart folks btw and statistics tend not to lie..)...is it possible that the implementation of "road rage" laws which discourages any sort of verbal confrontation between drivers may actually be detrimental to getting people not to drive like savages?

I don't think road rage laws are detrimental. I think the phenomenon is due to a rise in general selfishness, sense of entitlement, (If you don't believe that, read 'curency's answer!) and an over-all decline in simple manners.

no not necessarily, that law was implemented to stop road rage of the psychotic drivers cutting each other off, and having to make evasive maneuvers as you put it tends to spark the road rage, so i would say its just the drivers in the area are just bad, or there was a lax in police reenforcement that is allowing this in the first place

i know that i drive really fast but i do this because i know i am an excelent driver. I have never gotten into a crash but i drive like an asshole. Kids these days (including me) just want to go fast. But what really ticks me off is when i am on the highway and there is a car in the fastlane that is going 65 and wont move over when groups of cars are passing them going 75-80... that will be the cause of many accidents

When motorists are in their cars or trucks, they get that feeling of power and adrenaline rush because they know how fast they can go. It's easy to get testy and want to show off driving skills, or simply get ahead. To tell you the truth, I find it very stressful and I would prefer to stay behind the slower vehicles in the right lane.

Being a friendly driver doesn't make him/her a good driver. My sister is a friendly driver, but I can tell you here (not to her face) she isn't a good driver.
