Congratulations on your new car! Do you mean, put a clear gloss on it to help protect it? If that is what you mean then I'd say yes as it will help keep the finish better, longer. It will help protect the finish, just make sure you clean off any bird dropping/sap or things such as that right away as they can ruin the finish, even with the clear coat.
I love new cars, got to love the car smell! : ) Happy driving!
BTW: You can tell when they have put the clear coat on the car, it isn't hard to tell. A good wax is always important as some people above me have pointed out, it will keep your car's finish looking great for years. I have found that Carnoble is a good wax to use, as it allows the pain to be able to breath. I use it on my own car, it looks just as beautiful as the day that I bought it in 2003. It is black and that is a hard color to keep looking nice, this wax does the job.

It depends on where you live. I live in South Africa. Here we have very diverse wheather conditions, some places are hot and dry, others are humid. Paint protection is a good idea - it protects your car from minor scratches and dust. I have paint protection on my car (I have a black car), and sometimes I can just rub out some minor scratches with my finger! I don't live in an area where it snows and I don't live along any coastal areas, but the protective layer can also help protect against rust.. At the end of the day there is no harm in getting paint protection - I think it is a good thing and most new cars have the protective layer already, but if they give you the option go for it.

It depends. Are you like my parents who keep the car until the wheels fall off? If so no. It is a waste of money. If you are planning on selling your car in a few years then yes. In fact DEFINATELY!! 95% of people have no idea what they are looking at. They look at the interior and the paint and make a judgment based almost entirely on these two things. You may make more money on the re-sale of your car than the paint protection cost you initially.

I wouldn't bother.
I had it done on my 03 plate silver Golf and it did not make any difference to the car compared to one without.
On my 06 plate Golf (black), I did not have it done and as long as you wash it fairly often it is fine.

Waste of money, 1st most warranties cover paint, 2nd all you have to do is keep a good wax on the car. Wax every season and your car will look new forever.

If you are prepared to waste money on a new car, why not get paint protection at the same time? You will still lose 20% of the value driving off the forecourt

i could so particularly watch paint dry. I even have not the itsy-bitsiest desire in me to video exhibit such nonsense! i somewhat do not comprehend what human beings take exhilaration in plenty approximately enjoying it the two! If I had that form of spare time on my palms i could be taking a sleep (or on Y!A)!!!

Try polishing it with a product called "Mer" polish. Gives great protection! Available from good accessory shops.

No. You do not need it. Some dealers sell the service then don't do anything.
