I'm fine with my first name (Graham) which is Scottish and, although believed to be derived from an English place name which meant either "gravelly homestead" or "grey home," was first used in Scotland in the 12th century. A famous bearer is Alexander Graham Bell, the inventor of the telephon.

I thoroughly dislike my surname because: (a) it is the same as that of a (former) British politician who was as honest as the day is long but easily the most boring man that has ever lived (b) it is derived from an old English word meaning "hill" and I am very conscious of my size/weight and (c) it is the sort of name that lends itself to childish puns.

And no, I'm not going to tell you what it is, although you may be able to work it out based on the clues priovided above and in conjunction with my user name....

I've always hated my name: Nancy.

I hated it for no reason until about 2 years ago...I just don't like how it ends with an "eee" sound and there's no real way to have a nickname for it.

Finally, I'm actually settling on a "nickname" given in the past year by my "aunt" and "uncle" which is just "Nanc-" (like Lance, but with N).

I like names that grow with a person. Such as Nikola.
Where they can have a baby-nickname as an infant "LaLa" or whatever, then a toddler-nickname "Kola"/whatever, a kid-nickname "Nikki"/whatever, a teen nickname "Nik"/whatever, and an adult-name simply "Nikola".

I really like my Chinese name: 琴韵 (qin2 yun4). Literally, it means something like pleasant sounding stringed instrument, which fits me as I love the violin, viola, cello, and piano. Also, it is a very unique name, and I love unique.

My English name Elizabethe though is just too normal, but I like how it is 4 syllables, and so have no nickname. Unfortunately, in Chinese it is a yellow colored melon that has no taste. I hate the color yellow, and being overweight, I don't like being called after a melon.

I like my first name, Barbara, just fine. It means Wild Woman (female barbarian, to be precise). It's accurate and I'm proud of it.

My middle name, on the other hand, I have shortened to just one letter. I say "It used to stand for Joan, but now it stands alone." I hate the name, as it rhymes with Moan and Groan, as in "moanin' groanin' Joan."

My last name, Frederick, has an interesting history. According to family legend, Frederick the Great of Prussia had an illegitimate child by one of the ladies in waiting of his court. She had no real last name to give him, so used his father's first name as his last name.

I like my name because it was extracted from a pretty flower, and my mom went through the trouble of spelling it differently. And I'm also very sure there are not 200 people worldwide who share my name. So that is cool.

Yeaa. I am really like my name..

Actually the purpose behind the naming of a baby is not only for their identification.

But the way of our expectation that the baby should be as its name. That's mostly prefer saints name or Goddess names.

I like my name why it means Honesty or Purity....

i like my name the way it is. and i am stuck with it and there is no way i would change. it does not matter where it came from or mean. there is a very giood reason why you are named and that reason could be something that you need all your life. that one you are different and two that you are unique and three . why be anyone else.

My name suits me. I like it. It's means "beloved by God" apparently. Old biblical name from the Old Testement, though I think I was more named after my dad's granddad.
