On the plus side it helps maintain the gloss finish and reduces amount of polishing you have to do, washing is made easier by far.
If you live in an environment by the sea, or in an area troubled by bird droppings or tree sap this would provide a protective layer.
Only drawback apart from cost of the product is the car usually has to be shampooed using the manufacturer. specialist products. Does that help?

Honestly...no. This is just another protect sold by dealers to inflate their profit margin. Dealers try to sell you paint protection, undercoating, scotchguarding, etc. and in reality, it is almost always useless. The stuff that is good, you can have done anywhere. Take the car to a really good detail shop and have a good layer of wax put on the vehicle. Do this twice a year if you want the paint to stay in tip top shape. A good detailer will remove surface contamination, compound and polish imperfections and swirls, and put layers of protection on. How much does the dealer want to charge you.

it depends on what you mean by paint protection. Most new vehicles come with an anti corrosion guarantee, depending on which manufacturer it is. If its a cosmetic protection like a supa guard protection some garages throw this in as part of the deal, but again depends on the dealership.

I had my car since 2000 (feb). Since I live in NYC, I always park it in the 1 car garage (easier to open the garage door than drive around and around looking for open spot). The paint still looks new (when I wash it).
So it all depends on what kind of abuse your car will be getting.

It is good, but make sure you get quotes from other sources than the dealer. Some really overcharge a lot.

It depends on the vehicle.
If it's something expensive, go for it. But if you're buying something cheap, I wouldn't really go for it.
