As a Dubliner, I'd even say stay away, there's hardly anything to do or see, sure visit Dublin, but the most you'll want is a day or two, and do visit Temple Bar for that scene.
Then visit, Killarney, Cork city, Galway (beware of the water crisis atm though), The Burren, Galway, Mullingar (the lovely lakes) and obviously don't miss the Antrim coast (Giant's Causeway and Rope bridge)

I've heard that Cork is now the place to go as Dublin has started to be very expensive and a tad ripoff.

Depends what your looking for - but if you want an abundance of women on the beer, then Dublin Temple Bar is the place to go!

Come to the West!! all you'll meet in Temple Bar is english women, and lets face it, where's the challenge there?? lol
Galway is good as long as you remember to boil the water. Mayo is probably your best bet.
