"Talk to the hand" (or "tell it to the hand") is an English language slang phrase associated with the 1990s. It originated in African American Vernacular English as a contemptuous and urbanized way of saying that no one is listening, and is often elongated to a phrase such as "Talk to the hand, because the ear's not listening" or "Talk to the hand, (be)cause the face don't understand". "Talk to the hand" is often considered to be a sarcastic, or obnoxious phrase, and is commonly associated with urban black youths, especially black women, as well as teenage valley girls who adopted it. The phrase was popularized by actor and comedian Martin Lawrence in his 1992 sitcom Martin.

I think its like some attitude thing, meaning what the person is saying isnt worth listening to so talk to the hand cause it cant talk back. Also holding up a hand is a stop sign motion, so may also mean for them to stop talking because what they are saying is crap.

when someone say s "talk to the hand " that means they dont want to hear whatever it is that someone is saying to them , it is like saying " I dont really care what you are saying so you might as well be talking to a wall . also , the stop hand sign usually shown when saying that phrase probobly means that not only does someone saying that phrase not want to hear it , but they want the person to just stop what they are saying :) at least that is what i think :)

Later for you, I'm ignoring you. I'm not going to entertain your ignorance, I have nothing to say to you. You are deranged, leave me alone and I won't bash your freaken head off, idiot. I can't look at you or speak to you right now, go away, I can't get with anything your trying to say, come back when you turn human.

It means I can't even be bothered to look at you. and I'm not listening. so you may as well be talking to a deaf object, such as my hand. also when they do that they hold up their hand so they block out your ugly ugly face :]

the person has run out of intelligent retorts and is reverting to the childish "stick my fingers in my ears and pretend not to hear you" resolutions to an argument...
