I think it's a matter of wanting to control their own lives. They don't want to think someone is above them and knows what's best for them, they want to make their own decisions, whether right or wrong. So, they pick the next best thing (evolution) and choose to ignore all the millions of flaws with it (Like, how the heck did life get here if spontaneous generation was DISPROVED by Louis Pasteur, or how the the chances of all the proteins in the most simple, one celled bacteria getting together in the right order is 1:100^100, or how DNA cannot change to the extent required for interspieces evolution... I can go on for a very long time.)

It really comes down to whether or not they want to believe there is a God. If they don't, they're willing to ignore all the evidence against their theory, if they do, then they discover those flaws and act on them.

And about the Bible, it is the most historically accurate book EVER, as shown by the three tests performed by archaeologists which measure it against all other documents of the time. And the amazing thing is, even as it has been copied over thousands of years, no flaws have been made in the text. Versions from Jesus' time are the same as versions from Moses' time.

And guys, for crying out loud she isn't saying dinosaurs weren't real >_> there's a BUT after that clause.

i can believe in dinosaurs because evidence exists; when you see a dead body that means more than likely that there was an alive body. The bible was written by humans just like how humans wrote about the earth being flat. I would have believed that the earth is flat if all the evidence I had were the documents written by those humans. But since there are mountains of evidence now, including pictures of the earth from outer space, I know that I have learned the truth about the earth being round. I'm not a complete atheist; it is amazing to me how everything seems to work so well together, as if it was designed to work that way. But on the other hand, why should I believe in a book written by a bunch of dead people that provides no evidence whatsoever? If everything is so good like the bible says then why is there war, famine, diseases, etc. I don't think that if there is an almighty god then he would want us to be killing each other. Maybe there is a creator, maybe there isn't; but religion is BS. Also, who's to say that just because he created me that he cares about me? There are many parents out there who don't care about their children. Man created computers; does that make man a god to computers? Should computers worship us and kill each other for us? Do we really care about if our computers love each other and believe in us? No. Once our creation is of no use to us, we couldn't care less about it. I don't believe in your religion or any other because it seems to be the main cause of problems on this planet. I just try to live my life and be happy while respecting others. I don't want to spend this life (perhaps the one and only life) not doing exactly what I want and having to worry about my supposedly eternal life after this one. I make my own destiny and praying doesn't help.

So what are you saying? That the dinosaur bones were actually something else and we put them together wrong?

Let me ask you this - do you believe a man was made from dirt? That a snake could talk? That there used to be giants? That bats are birds? That Egyptians can do magic tricks? Because that's what the bible says. I know there were dino's because the bones prove they existed. You believe there's a God because - and I quote you - "the bible that has been written for over thousands of years by all kinds of differnt people".

I know you can't see the logical fallacy in that statement, honey, but really think about it. A book, written by MEN, is more plausible to you than hard proof? That's just sad.

Are you serious? I could go on forever on this...Ok, well, there is NO proof the bible is true, there is even proof against it, it has been proven that there was never a flood that covered the earth. And you are saying skeletons lie? That the devil placed them there to make you think? These skeletons show us what was here millions of yrs ago, and the so many species that have died out. This is hard scientific proof. The bible was written by many different people who where creating a religion over a span of many years. You have to think reasonable and look at the scientific evidence, not what was shoved down your throat as a kid, science does not lie. Just like the earth is no flat. And mike brings up a good point, if your argument is that it was around for thousands of yrs, why not the koran or some other type of text??

Woah, do all the nutters come online this early or something. Dang, I'm going to have to get up with time of the day all the time!

Dinosaurs were real, there is evidence that dinosaurs existed (example, the dinosaur bones!). It's just like a crime scene, the paleontologist put together the pieces of what happened and reconstruct what the person (or in this case dinosaur) looked like based on the remains. The key is the actual evidence that exists.

You have no evidence for the existence of your god other than a book of mythology. On the same token, I could say that the Eddas prove the existence of Thor. Why do you choose to worship Jesus instead of Thor? The Eddas are more consistent than the bible you know.

Is this a Serious Question?
Everyone has a right to their own beliefs. You're so upset because people dare see things differently.

There is proof of everything, from skeletons to Dino's to the bible. Look it up on wikipedia or contact Archaeologists.
And next time.... Ask a really valid question. This was just lame.

Are you freagin DAFT????

You've made a claim.
Now I want you to support your claim with evidence.

1) If you produce evidence, I will be very suprised, but I will examine it closely.

2) If you don't produce evidence to back up your claim, I will simply assume you are just another moron who parrots things they hear on the net without having the foggiest idea of what they are talking about, but it supports their claim so it "sounds good".

Note that I am NOT asking for "proof". Simply evidence. Do you understand the difference?

Update:
Hold your calls folks, we have a winner!
Brent H gets my pick for the "Credulous Person of the Year" award!
Lets hear it for the moron who can spit out more lies and absurdities in one paragraph than I ever thought possible!

"Ewww! You meany old atheists are so MEAN to us christians WHY are you so mean to us and call us stupid?"

I ought to bookmark this one for future reference as an answer for them.

Acckkk!
Not to be outdone in the stupidity department, leith (below) comes up with the outrageously absurd statement that the bible speaks of dinosaurs, but the words were mistranslated because the early church didn't know what dinosaurs were.
It's a good thing these fundies are here to correct those embarrassing biblical errors by retro-force-fitting modern knowledge. Hey leith, if you are correct, then the bible also proves that dinosaurs breathed smoke and fire, right?

if they all said the same thing. that would be one thing. but they don't that's why there are 20 versions going around right now.
If they all said the same thing they wouldn't need 20 versions- and the versions change the text add in take out edit how they please.
It's like putting your faith in Wiki, yea it's a good source, and it's growing, but I could go there right now and state the world is flat just because I want to. Anyone with money and power can change the bible.
Do you actually read that book?

The fact that there are remains of creatures no longer living is proof that they were once here. It is hard to dispute that fact.

Believing in the bible simply because it has been around for thousands of years? What about other scriptures? What about the Quran? How about the writings of Buddha or the like? Why does the fact that the writings have been around for a long time make them factual?

The skeletons provide verifiable PROOF of an animal\s existence.

I do not know from where you get your info about the bible, but you are incorrect in assuming "they all say the same things." There are inconsistencies big enough to drive a truck through. It is a book of fairy tales.
