It's the battle of life and the faith. The Lord Jesus speaks seven times about people that overcome and gives a promise to each of them at the end of each church mentioned in Revelation. It is interesting that one of the promises is that you will sit on HIs throne like He sat on His Fathers throne. I went to heaven in a vision and sat on Jesus throne and that means he considers me an overcomer already.
I hope this helps

The battle spoken of here is the battle against temptation to forsake Christ. Remain true to Him. The tribulation is a different thing, and one Christians will not have to go thru, as Christ will descend with a shout and take His church away (Rapture). When the church (salt of the earth) is removed the antichrist will have full reign for a time, until Jesus returns as King with his followers. Hope this helps.

Those who are born of God are the overcomers when they live out their new creation lives in Christ Jesus.
1 John 4:4 You are of God, little children, and have overcome them, because He who is in you is greater than he who is in the world.
1 John 5:4,5 For whatever is born of God overcomes the world. And this is the victory that has overcome the world – our faith. Who is he who overcomes the world, but he who believes that Jesus is the Son of God.

Just to keep your belief in Jesus while the tribulation is occuring. I think that we will have to go through part of it, but Jesus promises that we will not have to live through the hour of temptation, so that is a relief.
