By the first glimpse of your question it appears to be a little amusing, like as someone asking : "Did the humans created the computer or the computers created us ?". Although i feel, by the time 'Artificial Intelligence' would be made poweful and advanced enough to do miraculous tasks, there would be 'machines' questioning the same : "Did the humans created us, or we created them ?".
The followers of almost every religion believes man to be created by Allah with no doubt in it. Such kind of questions are usually asked by people who are "Atheists". People who doubt, or i must say believe "There is no God !"
I somehow feel that what you want to ask is "Is there any God or just that man created in his mind an imaginary character and named it God, just because he cannot have explanation to all the phenomenon existing in the universe. The things he cannot explain or understand, he attributed them to God ! "
There is enough scietific evidence to prove that human beings are not created by chance or the result of some 'Darwin's Evolution'. Do you know how much energy is required to make just one protein molecule ( one of the basic constituent of a living cell )? Today science proves that the energy required to make just one cabon atom is more than the sum total of the energies of all the planets in our solar system. And the time required by the protein constituents (carbon, hydrogen, oxyren, nitrogen etc) to react together in the presence of all the energy required is millions of years. Imagine how many carbon atoms are there in a protein molecule (set aside other constituents for a while). How many protein molecules are there in a cell, and how many cells are there in a human body? It is an established fact of science today that there are more than 6 billion protein molecules when a single child is born. Can you imagine ? How long it will take to create one human baby ? But it takes only 9 months for a mother to give birth ! And there are millions of females pregnant today ! Do you think this all can be a human work ?
So the science itself proves the existence of some SUPREME DIVINE AUTHORITY that has created all this. Proving that human beings are the created ones and not the creators themselves. THAT supreme authority is without doubt the Almighty Allah -- The GOD! He is not some imaginary character concieved by a human mind, to explain the unexplainable! Science too is not denying HIS existence rather confirming HE is TRUE and HE IS THERE. AND ABOVE ALL .. HE IS THE CREATOR.
But the story doesnt end here ... its just the begining! It is a fact that when you create something, you know everything about it. How, When, Why ? With what capabilities with what weaknesses. In short everything. Had humans created God they would have known each and everything about HIM. But the situation is quite the contrary ... Allah knows each and every bit of the whole existence and has mentioned so much in detail about it. Qur'an contains thousands of verses that explains the scientific facts that has now been established.(try searching the net for qur'an and science specially the embryonic study in quran) And Qur'an was revealed 14oo years ago. When no body could ever have imagined anything like this. Had HE not been the Creator, how could have HE told us all this ?
DEFINITELY ALLAH IS THE CREATOR AND WE THE CREATED.

Whether God created man is debatable, however man needed and definately created God to be able to create and run a social order.
A well defined "God" who is morally correct, with actions that seem to conform to natural justice and common sense is necessary to prevent a chaos and anarchy.
Thats my theory.

Well God is always believed to have been around, even before time, (whether this is true or not, I do not know, but it is supposed to be like this). So this means that God created man, and everything else that we have on Earth.

Yes God created man and everything around us. Seen and Unseen. God is not created. God is absolute and eternal. He has no past, present or future. Human mind is created to think everything relative of time. That's why many finds it hard to believe when we say God has no begninning. He was their all the time with no beginning..that's why we are all here. and He will be their all the time with no end. God is absolute and eternal
He is Allaah..
The First: Nothing is before Him.
The Last: Nothing is After Him.
The Most High: Nothing is Above Him.
The Most Near: Nothing is beyond His Reach.
He Begets Not, Nor was He Begotten.
The Creator, Provider, and All-Rich.
The All-Seer, The All-Knower.
He is One and Self-Sufficient.
He is not Nature, or any part of it.
He ascended above His Throne, High above the Seven Skies.
No Vision can encompass Him, but
His Grasp is over all vision..
Such Is Allaah
Nothing Is Like Unto Him
The All-Hear, The All-Seer
