Matthew 22:1-14 is a parable that Christ taught. The parables purpose is in the second verse of the chapter. Matthew 22:2 states, "The kingdomof heaven may be compared to a king who gave awedding banquet for his son." He is comparing the kingdom of God in earthly terms so that the community will understand what he is saying. Banquets often image participation in God's purposes, including the completeion of those purposes. Marriage symbolizes the covenant relationship between God and the people. Throughout the parables, there are symbols. The son in the parable is Jesus. The king is God. The parable concerns God's dealings with Israel. In the parable, the repeated invitations sent to the society's elite are rejected, and this insults the king. However, when the invitations ar sent to the society's non-elite, they are accpeted. The scene in the last verses denotes judgment among the banquet guests. The absence of appropriate clothing indicates a failure to honor the king. In our lives, we should walk our path in a way that honors our king (God). When we do not honor the king, like the gentleman did at the wedding, we are thrown out of the kingdom of God and into judgment. This is a symbol. It is a call to honor God in every action that we make.

The wedding garment is holiness. You can't be a person addicted to sin when you die and go to heaven. This verse says it quite clearly

Hebrews 12:14 (New King James Version)

14 Pursue peace with all people, and holiness, without which no one will see the Lord:

Hope this helps

The wedding garment is the white robe, washed with the blood of Jesus.

If you have kept all of the Words Jesus spoke in your heart, then your "good works" will manifest themselves, and for every good deed one of your stripes are taken away.

There will be some who will be naked, because they were not ready when their "time" came.
