I'm not a mormon but I just got interested in those stuffs so I visited the LDS website. They had that free delievery of book of mormon, so I just signed up. I was just curious what they believe and tenets. And now, as I signed up, there was a message that missionaries will visit me to bring that book! I though I they would give me in parcel. And here's my question. Will they force me or make me feel uncomfortable to have me become a Mormon? I don't dislike mormons obviously, I just need my own time to learn the tenets all that stuff.

There is no pressure from the missionaries. They are 19 or 20 year old young men, who are just following up on the referral you gave them by giving them your name/address. They won't be sending you emails (they are not allowed to email while they are on their missions, except once a week to their families at home.)

They won't be sending you snail mail either. They will stop by, once, with the Book of Mormon, and they will probably ask you to read it. If you read it, and you want to know more, they will come back if you call them. If you don't want them to come back, tell them that too, and they will honor your wishes.

They are young men/women who have put college on hold for 2 years at their own expense, they don't go home or date or do anything else except be missionaries for all of that time. They are sent anywhere in the world, not their choice of where to go. I think it's remarkable that they do this, so their message must be pretty important to them.

I don't think they will force you any little thing. Because all of them are so polite and gentle.

But I think they might be about to give you a right altitude on how to read the book when you get it.

Just as the phrases in the book saying ---

MORONI 10:3

"Behold, I would exhort you that when ye shall read these things, if it be wisdom in God that ye should read them, that ye would remember how merciful the Lord hath been unto the children of men, from the creation of Adam even down until the thing that ye shall receive these things, and ponder it in your hearts."

The altitude decides how much we will learn from the book.

They won't do anything you don't want, they won't force you to do anything. If you want to talk to them, they will teach you a little bit about what we believe (basics) and then let you alone to read the Book of Mormon and ponder and pray on what you learned, from them and from the Book of Mormon.

There should ave been a place when you ordered the Book of Mormon, to opt out of having the missionaries deliver it.

The free BOM comes with 2 elders. They deny most of the major tenets of the historic Christian faith and redefine a number of others.
They will present you a glitzy message that has been well polished and does not get into the main things they believe until the 4th or 5th lesson. Personally, I have never gotten past the second lesson because there are so many things that I have to talk to them about before we got on to the other lessons. They lost interest in coming.
- their church is the only true church
-salvation is in their church alone
-the nature of God (He and Jesus were men and worked their way up to Godhood)
-the nature of salvation
-the claim to restore the priesthood of the Bible.

Heres a good look at their true nature from History.
This one happened 150 years ago but I think its still relevant because Mitt Romneys church pardoned a terrorist mass murderer of Americans in 1960 and now Romney is running for President.

MOUNTAIN MEADOWS MASSACRE !!

It was September 11, 1857. A wagon train of 160 settlers on their way to California was massacred by a bunch of Mormons dressed in Indian clothes. 17 children under the age of 8 were spared and lived to tell their story.
1st. They dressed as Indians but after five days they changed tactics.
2nd. Then they went a bit away ,dressed back into normal clothes and acted like the Rescue Party who had negotiated a deal with the"Indians".
3rd, Then confiscated all the guns as part of the deal for "saving" the travellers and Mormon dissidents( who were the reason for the attack in the first place).
4th. Took everybody off a mile or so and shot them all. 2 men got away but were eventually tracked down and killed a day or so later.
5th. Took the 17 children they had not killed back with them to Salt Lake City.
6th. Got away with it. After a publicized trial, with the childrens own testimony admitted into the court, only 1 man was convicted and shot, John D. Lee. ( pardoned by Church 1960)

It ended up being called the Mountain Meadows Massacre. The first time in U.S. history that U.S. citizens were massacred on U.S. soil by religious wackos. This event is even more significant because the total U.S. population at the time was much smaller.(I dont know the exact numbers, maybe only 30 million or so) In todays numbers it would be around 1400 dead

The missionaries will probably encourage you to read it sincerely and with real intent.

Remember God has promised he will answer you if you pray with real intent(meaning if you find out it's true you'll act on the knowledge you receive).

I just want to say that I know for myself the Book of Mormon is true... you can know whether it is or not for yourself too. Pray with all your heart.

Have a great day! :)

When they arrive thank them for the book tell them you will get back to them if interested and ask that they not visit you again unless you contact them again... (the missionaries that come may give you a business card accept it and say thanks now I have the number should I choose to call later) They should walk away pretty quickly and not bother you again.. Unless you initiate contact again..

You may receive e-mails (look at them and find the tab to unsubscribe and end them if you choose) and you may receive snail mail items (send them back with a note asking to be removed from the mailing list if you so choose)..

Doing these simple things should stop contact and you can contact them if you so choose later.. (remember it may take a few weeks to stop snail mail as there is a turn around time and processing time with snail mail)

They will stop by once with the Book of Mormon; they will ask you to read it; and give you a card with their information if you want to learn more. It is completely up to you how much contact you want.

I would have some questions ready for them.
When Witness visited me I had question ready that I had
*always* wanted to know the answer to. I am sure you do as well. The truth is we all do.

So, if Almighty God has chosen this group to declare or preach his Word and to "make disciples" such as Jesus directed.

"Go therefore and make disciples of people of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the holy spirit, 20 teaching them to observe all the things I have commanded YOU. And, look! I am with YOU all the days until the conclusion of the system of things.” -Matthew 28:19-20

The fact is that the "wisdom from above is first of all chaste, then peaceable, reasonable, ready to obey, full of mercy and good fruits, not making partial distinctions, not hypocritical. 18 Moreover, the fruit of righteousness has its seed sown under peaceful conditions for those who are making peace."
-James 3:17-18

You might want to ask them why Mormons or those of LDS get involved in the wars of this world. You might want to ask them if they can imagine the leader of Christianity in a foxhole with a machinegun.

Wow, I wish I could be there with you! :-)
