Get quotes BEFORE you commit to the purchase! There's NO possible way for anyone to give you any sort of meaningful numbers here since so many factors go into pricing auto insurance. Your age, marital status, location, driving record, the vehicle itself, estimated usage, purpose of use (pleasure only, commuting to work or school, business, etc.) all factor into the quote.

If you buy first and then go looking for insurance you may find out that you can't afford to insure the vehicle. That wouldn't get you out of the car deal, either. You'd be screwed by your own hand. Get educated BEFORE you buy! Going at it the other way around can be a VERY expensive lesson.

If I bought one of those it would probalby cost me $50 a month here in small-town rural MO. But I'm 54 with a spotless record. If I were 22 and still lived in Boston, it would probably cost me $500 a month.

Insurance is a many faceted decision. It isn't just yes or no, it's how much coverage, what types of coverages, etc. Every company establishes their rates based on different factors.

You can go on the web and get estimates from many insurance companies. Some will give you their price and the prices of other companies as well.

What you pay will depend on a lot of factors. Your age (above 21) should counter-balance the fact that you are a new driver.

The new car will be more than a used car, and you will be required to carry full coverage on it by whoever financed the car.

Another factor is where you live. Different crime rates in different zip codes, traffic density etc. are all factored into rates. That car may cost twice as much to insure in a city than in the country.

Different states have different requirements for minimums.

Don't necessarily go for the absolute rock bottom you can get. You should at least make sure you have gap insurance from your lender, or some kind of "payoff coverage" on your insurance. IF YOU TOTAL THE CAR, OR IT IS TOTALED BY ANOTHER DRIVER, you will be paid the "actual cash value" of the car, NOT the balance on your loan. These coverages will help you there. Otherwise, you will have to pay off the car out of your own pocket. This can be very bad on a new car, since it will lose a great deal of its value the moment you drive it off the lot, right at the point when the loan is the highest balance because of the interest that's added on. The deductible will come right off the top of what they're going to pay you. A high deductible will make your insurance bill less, but then when they figure out what your car is worth after an accident, they will subtract that, or if your car is being repaired, that's the amount that YOU will have to pay...

Every accident, every ticket will raise your insurance rates. Be careful. READ everything the insurance company sends you. They don't spam-mail you once you are a customer, so if something comes in the mail, it's important. This will save you a lot of money in the long run. If you don't understand it, call them and ask them to explain it.

The rate really should depend on how much the car is worth and your driving history. You're better off going with insurance brokers in your area who work with different insurance companies. That way you go with the cheapest price. You can also get a free quote here http://www.insurancehelp101.com/auto_ins... Hope that helps.
