This answer assumes that you are a minor, not of legal age.

You're so rebellious!

I imagine that until you get used to it, your speech may be a little weird, which would raise my concern. If my son or daughter suddenly stopped talking, that would also raise concern. Covering your mouth with your hand while speaking would be suspicious too.

Not to mention that you'll have to hide it from anyone your parents might know because word gets around. You'll have to hide it from your friends too - never know when they might slip up. If you have any enemies, they might try to use the information to hurt you.

I would have suggested that you talk with your parents about how important a tongue piercing is to you BEFORE you had it done. They might have been OK with it - you could mutilate your body in much more terrible ways.

It is only a matter of time before it becomes known. At this point you have only a few options.

1. Remove the stud and forget about it until you're of legal age.
2. Tell them yourself and be prepared for the consequences.
3. Wait until they discover it and be prepared for those consequences.

You can't hide it, duh! You are going to have to talk to them sooner or later, and as soon as you open your mouth, it's going to be right there.

And please don't think your parents are dumb. They prolly already know about it, especially since your swollen tongue would tip them off the moment you said anything. You'd be talking funny.

Just go ahead and tell them. The worst they can do is make you take it out. A waste of money, yes, but those things are dangerous and unsanitary. What if it gets ripped out? You'd have a lizard tongue!!! EWWWWWW!!!

Well, best thing is, keep your mouth shut! Or start wearing an Arabian face veil.!! Jokes apart, unless you dont wear your tongue ring or stud, whichever you use, around them, they wont find out.But its not possible you can keep hiding that forever.Eventually they will find out someday,.....like my parents found out my peirced nose! Though at first I tried telling them the peirced spot in my nose was just some kind of acne.!

You can't, unless you don't talk to them. Try to explain to them why you had pierced your tongue, and prepare for some lecture. They are your parents, you definitely can't stop talking to them.

Unless you get a the world's smallest tongue ring, there's no way you're hiding that.

they will notice - when it's first pierced, you'll have noticeable difficulty speaking and eating normally, plus your parents will generally be observant - they'll know when you're trying to hide something, so they'll try and find out what.

no point in hiding it...b/c when ur with your friends ur gonna be comfy and not care if it shows and when ur with ur parents ur gonna try to hide it...ppl with tongue rings tend to play with it and one say ur gonna play with it habitually and forget that ur in front of ur parents...don't try to hide it act normal if they ask about it tell them the truth if they don't like it tell them that you like it no matter how much they don't and if u get tired of it u'll take it out but that ur decision to make...i've been through it myself and they eventually got over it and i learned to ignore the comments about it
