Jason the best answer for you is talk to a recruiter. No there are no "Judges" only what you score on the exams you'll take. Only HS Graduates are allowed in and the Marines are very picky about your background. Your ethics and attendance records are just some of the facters they use for selecting. Also any criminal history would most likely be cause for denial.
Best of luck, Warchild!

You don't need a judge's approval, you need the Marine Corps approval (in the event of a criminal record).
As for the Corps, damned fine choice. We've been winning battles and wars since 1775, long before the Chair Force* was a wet dream. Our history sets us apart from every other branch of US military service.
Read up on the history of the United States Marine Corps. Excellent examples of Marines in action include:
Barbary Wars (Tripoli)
Chosin reservoir (Korean War, Col. Lewis B. "Chesty" Puller)
World War 1 (Origin of the "Devil Dog" nickname, according to legend)
And many more from World War 2.
The point is, you'd be joining a proud group of people who have done what few have done.
As for the contract commitment, it's 4 years active and 4 years inactive reserve (meaning in the event of World War 3 you can be recalled. The IRR was designed to replace the draft).
You can find military pay grades and pay rates on militarytimes.com, as well as usmc.mil
Good luck and Semper Fidelis!
*poking fun of the Fly Boys, no malice intended.

Don't listen to Ryan G. The Marines are some of the toughest guys in the world, you should sign up. Depending on your education and background you could get paid higher. I'm not sure how much you will get paid but it is easy to look up.

One: all contracts are for EIGHT years, regardless of Branch.
Two: if when you say judges.. do you mean criminal judges? the guys in the black robes who pronounce sentance on bad guys? then.. its a moot point.. you may NOT join the military for the sole purpose of avoiding jail time, and you may NOT join the military while you are on probabtion or have ANY open proceedings against you.
Three: pay is based on rank and time in service.

No, there are no judges.
Call your local recruiter if you're serious about joining. Keep in mind, they are VERY aggresive. If you're not sure, seek answers at their website and at military.com.
Good luck!
