$17 is pretty good pay for a rural area of Va, but not if you're in the heart of a city like Fairfax, Manassas, DC, Alexandria, etc. Rent and houses are pretty up there far as price. If you're in the major city area it might be a wise investment to move outside of city limits, by a hybrid vehicle and commute. The weather is cold enough in the winter for a little bit of snow (but not crippling) and hot enough in the summer for a pool or go to the beaches. If you don't like it in Va, you can always go back. Try anything once, twice if you like it.

Virginia's pretty and the weather is better: you still have four seasons but the winter's not as cold. It sounds like the company really wants you, and it's great to be wanted. If it doesn't work out, you can always move back, but hey, give it a shot. What can it hurt?

$17 is ok for most of Virginia, except northern VA outside of DC. Where is your job offer? What's the job/company?

Just curious, what is the job?
My husband works for an airline and we've moved from Pittsburgh to Kansas City to Roanoke, VA. He likes his job so yes, it's worth it. If it's doing something you like, just go for it.
