these big dogs came to my yard and out to the shed and attacked my kittens and as being a good mama cat she protected them. i heard all the barking then the kittens screeching like they were being torn apart, (im getting teary now) and so i started screaming but there was nothing i could do :( i was so fustrated and confused. the last thing i saw was 2 or 3 big German Shepard's running out of the yard. my mom then woke up and went put to check everything over, by the way this happened at 11:30 pm tonight . anyway, she said the cat wasnt going to make it. that her stomach was bit up bad and she was suffering so she had to put her to sleepp :( it is 12:50 am right now and i cant go outside and check to see if the 3 baby 3 month old kitties are still alive (teary again) i really want to though i want to know if atleast one kitten made it. i pray to god so.
these dogs live down my road and i know where they live. they are big dogs that are loose every day and night! they tear up trash..

my mom went out and checked to see if there was one survivor. only one little kitty made it and he right now is sitting happily, and unharmed on my lap! this is the ony miracle kitten. my mom looked for hours and only found this one in the bushes. we named him Tom!
anyway, like i said i wasnt allowed to go out and see if the kittens were still there, my mom would not let me. and we had to put the moma cat to sleep b/c she was suffereing really bad. my mom put some ether on a cloth and it took 5 seconds for my cat to close her eyes and move on. at least i know that she fought a good battle b/c she really got into the fight to get hurt as bad as she did. my mom and my grandpa both took a lookat the cat and knew there was no saving her. im just sooooo happy and thankful tofind that one kitten made it away!
and the reason that the cat and kittens were out side is b/c the mama cat is an outside cat. when we moved here we saw her outside and fed her. the neigbors said she's been here.

PS ADD -- First, check on the kittens in case you can save them, as other posters have said. You will feel better knowing you have helped, or tried to.
And -- I wouldnt bother talking to the neighbors. I have dealt with the type of peopel who own animals like this, and they will just yell at you and will not take responsibility. Call the police ASAP and they will contact the appropriate authorities. And file a lawsuit against them for bills, pain and suffering. These people have no excuse, the law is on your side since they are legally responsible for anything their dogs do.
Call your county department and they will come collect the dogs and cite the owners. That is outrageous, and there is no excuse, so don't feel bad for the owners, they have no right having dogs. If it is easier, call the police ASAP, and tell them that they attacked your pet, and the police will contact the appropirate authorities. You can also sue for medical bills. I am horrified for you that someone allowed horrible dogs to do something like this. What an adorable cat for protecting her babies. PLEASE PLEASE CALL THE AUTHORITIES! These dogs are a danger, and you are doing everyone a favor by doing so. Please email anytime if you need support.
Aken: I am like everyone else who thinks cats should be spayed and neutered. But we don't know the whole story. And there is no reason to make someone feel worse, when they are torn up over an irresponsible person who allowed dangerous animals (dogs) to run lose. Those dogs need to be taken away from those people asap. It would be good to spay or neuter the kittens you keep, and I hope they fare well. And if these idiots do keep dogs or get new ones, it would be safe to keep the kitties inside.
Just be brave and check on the kittens. If they didnt make it, the Humane Society if FILLED with kittens that will die if no one adopts them, and htey are spayed and nuetered, so go rescue one of those. It will make you feel better that you saved a life in the name of this tragedy.

I think first, your mom should go check on the kittens. If they didn't make it, it might be better if you don't see. If they did, but are hurt, they need to be taken care of. Don't take a chance on an animal suffering all night. I am so sorry for your loss, I know how hard it is to lose a pet.
Now, tonight, right now, I would call the police and file a report. German Shepherds running loose are a menace. Tell the police you know who the dogs belong to, and that they are always running loose. There are laws against that. Next time it could be a child or elderly person who is attacked!
If one of the kittens made it, or you decide to adopt another kitten eventually, please keep the kitty inside to keep her safe, and get her spayed. A spayed housecat is the world's greatest pet. Good luck, Hon. My heart is with you.

I am so sorry that this happened to you. I would call the authorities ASAP. No animals deserves what happened to your cat. Those dogs should be kept in a kennel or something. I think that if the owners of those dogs can't take care of them right, they shouldn't have them. No one wants any loose dogs terrorising their neighborhood. Beside your cat was in a shed with her kittens. She was being taken care of. You did nothing wrong. I can unerstand how you are feeling. Any one would be devastated to lose an animal the way you lost your cat. I have had several animals through the years of my life. I have both dogs and cats now. My animals all get along. 1 of my dogs was a rescue from someone with too many dogs, that had no business with even one. I also have 3 rescued kitties I found in my neighborhood. I have a tendancy to bring in stray kittens and find them good homes. If I didn't bring them in, the neighborhood stray dogs or the unsupervised children would torture them. I hope everything turns out for you, and I am so sorry that your pour cat had to go through something like that. (*_*)

I am sorry for you that you had to experience this. People with animals should be responsible for them . I am sure your Mom can find out who to talk to for appropriate action. Those dogs should be contained and their owners held responsible. I was an adult when I witnessed a dog killing my cat of 8 years so I have some idea of your experience.
As for you, try to look for a way to do something good for others as well as yourself. Could you save another kitten from the shelter, thereby giving a home to a cat in the name of the poor brave cat and kittens who faced an unfair fate. Sometime you might be able to volunteer at an animal shelter. What I am saying is to do your best to put this sad sight behind you and do something positive instead. Good luck in your journey.

#1: CHECK THE KITTENS! They shouldnt be outside in the 1st place. Take responsibilty and go see if they are ok, they could be in critical condition and need emergency Vet Assistance. What happened to the mother now???YOUR MOM Put Your cat to sleep? why wasnt she rushed to theERV? i am very sorry for your loss, considering you probably dont have any control over the situation....but if you arent willing to even try to give your pets the medical attention they need, they need to go to a home that can provide them with proper care...Its part of owning pets. Another thing, it is illegal to have your animals roaming the streets....so call animal control or even the police, Tell them what happened....Animal Control takes these instances seriously. I wouldnt bother with the owners, german shepards are usually friendly dogs, so the only way these dogs are out and aggressive is because of careless, neglective, and possible dog fighter owners. They can be charged w/ animal cruelty. If you dont call them for you pets sake, call them for the sake of your community and your safety. Next time it could be a neighbor or a child.

Oh sweetie I am so sorry to hear that... My advice is to check now while you still have a chance. Dont let it sit and wait. And report to the animal control that the owners have let these dogs roam free and causing death rates in the neighborhood. Since if these dogs are tresspassing you as the house owner have the rights to report vicious dogs roaming and killed 1 of your cats and left 3 kittens alone w/o a mom. report it now. The owner of those dogs will lose them and they will be put to sleep or given to someone else if they are lucky to live.

Sorry they are fightn for territory and more. Getting their bits taken off will help. Other than that keep them seperated or have 2 cat housing units built for them. LIke walk in cages, enough room to climb jump sleep and play. Seriously dont be cruel by letting them fight, its best to get them fixed. Until then they will fight for territory of the home and for top cat. THats what intact males do. Build a cage that leads out doors so they can have their safty from any other cats. If you give a thumbs down on anyone who says you shouldnt let themout at night or fixed then delet your Questiona dn deal with the fact your being cruel to your cats by letting tem get attacked, cuase you dont want to keep them inside or get them fixed. Whats gonn happen if one dies cause it was hurt too badly or gets something worse.

My theory is if a dog kills to eat it's ok. But to kill just to kill is not good. I would call your law inforcement and tell them there is some dogs running around attacking cats and getting into trash. It's a public nuisance and they could attack you or children. If they come out and things don't improve call them again.
Also if you didn't already get pictures. Proof could help in the long run.

By now I hope you brought your kittens in, it was so cold last night. :'( :((
I do believe your mother(she's the legal owner) can charge the owners of the dogs for the destruction of the cat; since it is a mother, she'll most likely win. German Sheppard aren't usually vicious, but that is my dog. I had trouble reading the whole thing, I feel so bad for you. :'(

that happened to me once, but we had a shelter built for the cat and her kittens like a cattery and the dogs ripped through the chicken wire and killed the cat and kittens, it was aweful. We also knew where the dogs lived and we contacted the owners and told them they better keep controle of their dogs.
so maybe you should contact the dog's owners.
