I work at Wal-Mart and I was wondering why kids always throw 40 fits about riding in the buggies. When the parent picks them up and tries to put them in the buggy, the kids start kicking and fussing and yelling, like riding in the cart is bad or something. I used to like riding in the buggy when I was their age. Do some kids hate it because of confinement or is it the fact that they have to stay with their mom he whole time?

Because they want to be able to grab all they can off the shelves.

A couple reasons come to mind. I have two sons, ages 3 and soon-to-be 2) and they're generally well behaved in shopping carts. The problem comes when I'm making a big shopping trip and they have to be in the cart for more than 30 minutes or so. They're tired of sitting, and also, they see things on the shelves that they want (that I have no intention of buying them) and that sets them off.

Kids hate confinement. They want to be able to roam, touching and even emulating the parents by picking things up and placing them in the buggy.

That's interesting. When I was a kid, I couldn't wait to ride around the store in the cart. I can't imagine why any kid would be bothered by that.

ok, so you liked riding in the cart. The problem is today they hurt your behind quite a bit. The carts are smaller and use cheaper form of metal. try riding in one today and then rethink your answer. by

It's a control thing. Many kids at this age have little control in their lives so they pick their battles... often.

Because they are spoiled Brats and they can't get into everything if they are in a cart.
