If you do so many crunches that you get sore, then you need to rest a day, because the soreness means you strained your muscle and it needs to repair.

The three main test in your PFT (Physical Fitness Test) for the marines is a 3 mile run. Crunches, and Pull ups. You are scored based on the number and time you get with those three tests a perfect is a 300. Now its good to do all kinds of work outs you might not believe it but you will be using every muscle in your body in the Core so train as much as you can. When you get to boot-camp they will make sure that you are in top physical shape so just work out everything but work on your crunches, pull ups, and run time the most. That's were you will be tested on the most.

well i heard its bad coz one of 3 most impprtant things in working out and exercising is rest !
its like goin and lifting weights ! if u do it day after day .. ur rip ur muscles lifting weights so u have to give them rest the next day and eat protein to re build the tissues ..
im guessing same with crunches .. like if u do them hardcore maybe u shouldnt do them everday .. if u do light amount of exercises i don think its a biggie - contradictorily - i heard if u were sore from crunches one day u can still can do crunches but less intensley ...
so i donno
