Why is it that anytime someone mentions "Catholic" all I hear on Yahoo answers is hurtful and prejudice remarks. How sad. You comment on things about the Catholic faith, things which you THINK we believe, but not what we really believe. You have no understanding. I really feel sorry for you. God said, we would be persecuted for our faith...God knows we are persecuted.

My intention was not to insult. My Title Question "uneducated Protestant?" was titled this because had I put.."Why does everyone put down Catholics?" I can imagine what answers would have arised. Well, now I know, anyway it was titled only hurtful words would come. I ONLY WANTED TO MAKE SOME PEOPLE THINK ABOUT WHAT THEY SAY ABOUT OTHER FAITHS. STOP!!!

Pastor Billy says: brilliant answer Meg just brilliant. Yes your answer holds merit as Protestantism is not based on being pro-Christian as it is based on being anti-Catholic. Over 450 years some Protestant denominations have mellowed but many new ones have come on-line and they tend to have this calling of going back to the Protestant roots of the reformation(which they attempt to label as "the Church of Acts"). Protestantism is founded upon a lie and lies are easier to accept than truth especially when the lie is a half-truth.
Once you learn the origins of Protestantism you begin to understand why there will always be some members of it which exhibit the characteristics you mention.
See some of my other answers or questions.
Rejoice in the fact that Catholicism is the most persecuted Christian community. Protestants have a faith but Catholicism is The faith. I see things very clearly now because I know my faith. Continue to learn your faith and than sticks and stones as well as names will never hurt you.
Great responses to the others Meg.

>>You comment on things about the Catholic faith, things which you THINK we believe, but not what we really believe.<<
You are so right, as Quella Bella just demonstrated! She claims "even your own Pope don't know what to believe. Limbo yes.....Limbo no."
If she bothered to find out what the Church REALLY says, she would know that the theory of Limbo REMAINS what it always was -- "a possible theological opinion":
http://www.vatican.va/roman_curia/congregations/cfaith/cti_documents/rc_con_cfaith_doc_20070419_un-baptised-infants_en.html
Lix wrote, "The bible makes it clear that all who follow Christ ARE saints", implying that this is contrary to what the Church teaches. However, that IS what the Church teaches, as she would know if she read the Catechism:
http://www.vatican.va/archive/ENG0015/__P2B.HTM
Fernando A writes, "I'm a postgraduate student & an ex-catholic, I'm now a protestant", and asks, "Am I uneducated?"
If he is so educated about Catholicism, why doesn't he know there has never been a Jesuit pope?

Have you ever read even a portion of the several thousand pages that comprise your own Statement of Faith? I have. Catholics are pretty much stuck with the priest authority on any spiritual questions. Why don't you read for yourself? The old and new testament are clear on not praying to the dead; no, not even the Blessed Virgin. The bible states plainly that she would always be blessed amongst women, but not prayed to. The Holy Trinity, not the holy quads. This is one of the largest bridges to cross before we can commune with one another. My charismatic church will happily have you join in our taking of communion. Does your priest want to let this Protestant partake? One did when I was visiting a hospital. I told him I was not Catholic and he asked the qualifying questions to confirm my belief in Christ, He said we're on the same bus and smiled. I partook because I know he was enlightened enough to be past the dogma. Also had he been found out, I am sure he would have been defrocked. And who was persecuted in the Inquisition? Who made the deal to keep Hitler from getting near the Vatican. Let's talk education vs. dogma.

You're right. Ask Protestants on whether or not they think Catholics are Christians. If, for some reason, I had to revert back to religion, I'd take Catholicism over Protestantism in a minute.

First of all, where is your question? Second of all, I am not a protestant and I can talk about Catholics all I want because I was a Catholic at one time. I grew up as a Catholic. I know what they believe and what they do. So I am the one that feels sorry for you. I am sorry that you have to be so angry at everyone that has an opinion. I am sorry that you can't show others the Christian way because you are so angry and you have to persecute others for it. What happened to your turn the other cheek? Maybe you should practice what you preach.
Hugs

Catholics are BAD!! I don't know why, but that's what I've been taught. I'm not supposed to think, or ask questions, so if they tell me Catholics are bad, then they're bad. Catholics go to hell, Protestants go to heaven, and uneducated you!!
God Bless!! :D

We regularly get requests on here as to who would be a good saint to pray to, or people looking for good novenas. Probably two of the things you'd say catholics don't do. There are things that even you would admit to. What about when you go to confession and are given penance. Where does penance fit in with biblical teaching or the last rites which are totally off beam. Jesus said anoint the sick and they will get well. He didn't say anoint them when they are dying as a seal on their death. Think about how the catholic church canonises saints. They are prayed to for a miraculous healng before they are professed as saints. The bible makes it clear that all who follow Christ ARE saints. They cannot be man made. I could go on and I know where I am coming from because my family are mainly catholic. I am a born again christian.

There are nasty things said about all different kinds of groups of people. It's time consuming, disappointing, and near fruitless to fight it head on.
The best you can do is be the best Catholic you can be, ignore the blind insults, and teach those who are willing to be taught.
