You can wear a cross all you wish. I know many people that believe crosses are beautiful. They use them to decorate their homes or use them as necklaces or earrings. It does not have to be a religious thing for you. Christians don't have the market on wearing crosses. It is up to you to identify yourself through your beliefs. If that isn't being a Chrisitan for you, that is fine. You can call yourself as you see fit. You can also wear a cross. I think it's okay. You are right. You are allowed to do as you choose, but I understand why you are asking this. I think it's absolutely okay. Do as you choose. :-)

Sometimes i am confused by this. I am a christian but... Since history has been recorded, most other religions use the cross as well for many different reasons. Also, one argument by some is that the cross is where Jesus DIED... so in a way it's like if your mom got murdered by being beat in the head with the hammer, would you wear a hammer necklace to symbolize your mom? of course not! That hammer symbolizes her DEATH!!! But, it is a symbol. I guess Roman catholics tried to incorporate it into a symbol of His sacrifice for us? Still, i do have a bracelet with a cross on it so i dnt think it's bad. So it's okay if you want to. God tests our MOTIVES, not what we wear.

First of all I think Catholics are Christian...
If you do not follow a religion by what athority did you ask so that you could be allowed you to wear it?
Being that you are comfortable with out being a member of a religion I can only guess that it would be okay being that it is about as close to any religion as you will ever get while on the planet.

Depends. Some may see it as wearing some very sacred to them without any thought behind it.

When I was in 7th grade I wore a cross with a snake on it becuase I thought it looked pretty neat. I wasn't even thinking about religion when I put it on. I was merely thinking of the design.

You have to understand, though, that symbols carry all sorts of meaning. Most people wouldn't wear a swastika (note: not a manji) because they thought it looked nice. However, the cross does not carry a negative (well depends on who you talk to) value like the swastika does.

It's up to you. I dont think it is doing any harm honestly. You can't worry about offending people for the littlest things. I wouldn't do it personally anymore, however that is just me. Life is too short for worrying about little things like that..

The cross as a symbol is much older than Christianity. It has had many meanings to many cultures over the years. It just so happens that it was adopted by the religion that is prevelent in your area at your time. It is no more exclusively Christian than is the idea of crucifixion.

Besides...you could always just tell people that it's a lower case "T"

It's the same as Barbra Streisand singing "Oh Holy Night." It's "just a song" right? It has NO MEANING, right?

The cross has a meaning in the Christian religion. If you wear the cross, it "speaks" that meaning to others who see you wearing it. So you will be "approached" differently than if you were not wearing it. Wear a "Star of David" and see what happens. Symbols have meanings, whether to yourself or to others. If you wear symbols, just be prepared for the consequences of others reacting to the MEANING of that symbol, including those who might be UPSET if you are wearing an IMPORTANT symbol (to themselves) in which you, yourself, do not believe in that MEANING.

According to the Bible, any sort of Icon is UNACCEPTABLE.
(Exodus 20:4-5) “You must not make for yourself a carved image or a form like anything that is in the heavens above or that is on the earth underneath or that is in the waters under the earth. 5 You must not bow down to them nor be induced to serve them, because I Jehovah your God am a God exacting exclusive devotion, bringing punishment for the error of fathers upon sons, upon the third generation and upon the fourth generation, in the case of those who hate me;

As for the cross being accurate.
The original word for the instrument on which Jesus died was a " STAURUS". Which means an upright pole or stake. There is no indication of any crossbar.
If the cross were accurate, the original word should have been '\"CRUX". It was not.

Wear what you want. I don't wear a cross because I see it as wearing something like a replica of an electric chair around my neck. There are many symbols out there and if you like crosses wear them. I frequently wear a star of David and am looking for a piece known as Eve's shield of protection. Do what feels right.

Am not sure why you want to wear the cross if you are not a born again Christian, however, if you are, please don't wear one with Christ shown hanging on it. He is not on the cross He is risen! When our pastor's wife wore one with Him on it and I was teaching our adult class she attended at church, she became convicted that it wasn't right ot wear it so she changed to just a cross since that too can lead people to ask about it and she can tell them of the Savior who is risen from the grave and lives that we might live eternally with Him shall not perish but have everlasting life".So wearing a cross has a powerful message for mankind.

Why would anyone who does not believe in Jesus even want to wear a cross. The cross means more to our Lord than just a piece of jewlery=-it means His gift of love to mankind to "whosoever will believe on Him.will not perish but have everlasting life!"

I am not following any set religion but I believe in Jesus and I believe in God.

I would not wear the cross because I think that it is an idol. I would not wear it because no one knows what Jesus looks like, you should not make orniments that are meant to be God out of any kind of material, and because you don't need a cross to remind you of the price that Jesus paid for our sins.

If Jesus wanted people to remember him with a cross then it would have been put in the Bible. It is an abomination to God.
