When me & my twin sister were younger, my older brother used to beat us with metal clothes hangers & lock us up in a hot laundry room with the clothes dryer running. Now, I'm living with my brother because I have no place else to live, he's starting to show those abusive tendencies again. I thought that over the years, since he turned gay, that he would've become too soft, but I guess not. He yells @ me for no reason & takes his anger out on me when he's uspet with someone else. 2 nights ago, he came home from work & decked me in the back really hard with his finger & yelled @ me to get his attention because I didn't know he had come home & was calling my name. I didn't even hear him come in the door, & he just SNUCK up behind me & did that. I wish I could've fought him back & defended myself. Do you think he'll be likely to start beating on me again? I need to try to find a new place to live because I don't feel comfortable here.

I would get out of there as well. I think once someone is set in their ways they will never change and only get worse. If you have a job and some extra money around try to find a hotel to stay in or try your sister? You can always forgive but never forget what he did to you. He was wrong then and is still wrong now. Get out immediately because it will only get worse never better. I'm assuming with your disability you couldn't fight back? Thats just so wrong. He's taking advantage of your disabililty to abuse you. I wish I could help more...Good Luck and blessings!

Well, it is a good thing that it was your brother that snuck up behind you.....You could have got rape, robbed or worst. Do not Know what you were so deeply involved in but, in today's society, you gotta be more careful. Your brother may have handled that situation all wrong but, be aware of what is going on around you-- hope you feel batter about your brother.

call your local pd and ask for a safehouse for abused women. They are usually pretty nice. It's not your typical shelter. You have the right to feel safe. Alot of times these womens groups will help you with storage rental, job training and counciling. But get out, befor he has to severly prove yor own instinct right.

If you read your question over, you'll find that you have answered it yourself by saying ''He's starting to show those abusive tendencies again.''

Yes, you need to find a new place to live. Life is too short to live with someone who abuses you. And your brother is already doing that.

Get out... and good luck!

I WOULD GET OUT THERE AS SOON AS POSSIBLE IT HAS BEEN PR OVEN EVEN WITH HELP THAT SOMEONE WHO IS ABUSIVE CAN AND MAY ALWAYS HAVE THE SAME PATTERNS OF ABUSE. MY HEART GOES OUT TO PEOPLE LIKE JUST BECAUSE MOST OF THE TIME THEY HAVE WITNESSED IT THEMSELVES OR EXPERIENCED IT AS WELL WHICH GIVES THEM THE GREATER CHANCE TO BE THE SAME WAY! BUT THERE IS HELP AND I BELIEVE THAT ITS UP TO THEM TO BREAK THE CYCLE ONLY IF THEY WANT TO GET THE HELP. GOOD LUCK!
