Hi i am currently in high school and will be graduating soon I have already been accepted by my college. I was wondering what is the difference between electronics engineering technology and electronics engineering. I was also wondering where can these take me and what kind of job and work place i can be looking forward to. I was also thinking about after finishing
my 3 yr program to go to college for 2 yrs to get a BA in Engineering in ether electronics or electrical engineer. I am really interested in telecommunications, wireless communication anything of that nature and building and designing circuits to do something like make a robotic bug. If any1 could help me with this it work be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Dude !

Engineering and Engineering Technology has got difference.

Engineering - More Theory,More years in Collage, More Job options, More Designing & stuff like that- in short - More Intelligence required and More Hard Work - OFCOURSE

Engineering Technology - More Practically Inclined, More of hands on Practice, More Field Knowldge but....
Less Theoritical Knowledge(compared to Engineering),Less Designing (which u wanna do) Less years in Collage etc.

And moreover you can choose Electrical & Computer Engineering and take up course on Communication Electronics and Mechanical subjects (as it goes with your idea of making a electronic bug-Mechatronics to name one).

Best of Luck dude !

Are you in the U.S.? If so, I'm confused. In the united states most school offer a B.S. in electrical/electronics engineering, not a B.A.

Most of these programs are 4 year programs unless you transfer from a community college, in which case you have 2-3 years left.

Electronic Engineering technology basically prepares you to be a technician. This can be a 3 year program and you do earn a B.S. but unlike electrical engineering, it's usually taught at trade schools.

Here is an overview: http://www.bls.gov/oco/ocos112.htm#nature

You will typically be assisting electrical engineers and work a lot with equipment. Think of Scotty from Star Trek. He didn't design the ship but he fixes, maintaines it, and tests it.

You had best investigate this issue a little more and decide what qould suit you best. If you want to build robots, then you can't beat Carnegi Mellon University for that.

Dude The main difference between electronics and electrical engineering is that electronics deals with movement of electrons in semiconductors while elect rial deals with movement of electrons in conductors. If you are like me and have flare for all good gadgets you should go for electronics but frankly there is actually a very think line and most colleges have the same department which offers these course and you can move between majors while you attend college and decide on this after you enter the course. Now electrons and conductors will sound like rocket science but it would when you start in your college soon. So get it and decide.

A degree in Electronics Engineering Technology is more of a hands on degree that teaches you how to be a technician who repairs electronics (kind of like an electrician). Usually it is a 2 year associates degree.

An Engineering degree is heavier in theory, requires more math, and more physics, and is usually a 4 year bachelors degree. Your job options out of college are better.
