I currently wear disposable contacts, and I believe they are to be removed nightly, then I put them back in in the morning. Well, I wear my contact lenses for about a month or two at a time without ever removing them until they finally get uncomfortable. I know this may be a dumb question; but, is that bad for me to do? I wouldn't know why it would be. I mean, they don't dry up, get ripped/torn, etc. Please answer only if you know what you're talking about. Don't make a "guess." Sorry! Not trying to sound mean. I just want straight, correct information. Thanks ahead of time!

Yes this is extremely bad for your eyes for sooo many reasons. I know it doesn't seem important to you to follow the directions of the contacts...but improper contact lens wear can cause permanent damage to the point where you may never be able to wear contacts or get a serious infection that could end in blindness.

Naturally your eyes produce protein and this builds up on the lenses, even with cleaning them thoroughly the deposits remain. These deposits irritate your eyes and also "clog" up your contact lenses and the amount of oxygen getting to your cornea is reduced.
If you over-wear your contacts your cornea will not be able to tolerate it. Wearing lenses for extended periods of time can block oxygen to the cornea, making it more susceptible to infections. A cornea that is deprived of oxygen is VERY prone to infection.
Also improper contact lens wear can result in a corneal ulcer. This happens when the surface of the cornea is damaged or compromised. Want to see what a corneal ulcer can look like? http://www.littlerockeye.com/photogalleryimages/CORNEAL%20ULCER.JPG
This is more serious because bacteria may be on the lens or in your cleaning solutions, thus, they get trapped on the under surface of the lens. If your lenses are left in your eyes for long periods of time, these bacteria can multiply and cause damage to the cornea. This can even result in blindness or the inability to wear contacts.

So to sum it up: Throw out contacts when it is recommended to do so. Wearing them for longer will cause your contacts to "clog" up with proteins etc... This will deprive your cornea of oxygen and leaves your eyes susceptible to infection and irreversible damage..... The longer you use the same pair of contacts the more time bacteria has to grow on them!!!!
Please see your local eye care professional to check your eyes and talk to them about proper contact lens wear and the consequences of not wearing them properly. :)
Hopefully this helps a bit hun :)

There are contacts out there that allow more oxygen to pass through the lenses. Your eyes need exposure to oxygen. every night, a very thin layer of new matter fills the eye, as a healing, your body may think that your contact is a wound and try to fill it in and then you have a contact stuck in youe eye. That happened to one of my friends after 2 weeks. Thats The only thing that could be bad.

I don't know if it is safe or not, but there is a brand of contacts out there that is designed to be safe to wear for a month. If that is what you want to do, you should try them, because daily disposables are only required to be safe for one day. They may or may not be ok for a month, just like prescription drugs may or may not be ok 10 years after the expiration date. But the FDA only requires them to be tested up to the expiration date and then 2 years after, so I assume that for daily disposables, they are only tested to be safe for a few days.

yes, it's bad because there will be protein build-up in your lens which can cause to eye infection.remove your lens when sleeping and soak for at least 4 hours to remove the build-up.
That's what i do coz I also use monthly disposable lens.
