In general, a minor can not 'own' anything.. car, truck, etc. Simply because he is a minor. Items of value are usually owned by the parents and held in trust for the child.
That would especially be true of a car unless:
1) Your state law provides for alternate processes (you need to remember to include complete info - like state or country
2) You are legally defined as an emancipated minor.

Well its best if the parents own it first because if you get in a wreck the insurance company of your car and the other car will look at you the owner. trust me let your parents own your car as LONG as you can. My mom sells cars and you can have some one COsign for some one under 18 or so. Its not worth it. If your scared that your parents might take your car away then thats different.

In the UK, you can 'own' anything.
You have rights towards that product.
I have a car, but i'm not of legal age to drive it. (I'm 16, legal age:17)
The log book IS in my name.
America's laws are much more strict.

If you are an emancipated minor, you can sign a legal contract. Yes, in this situation, no under normal circustances.

depends on the state. in PA, yes but the insurance is outrageously expensive. let your parents own it for a while.
