I am looking for some non tourist things to do in NYC in early june, also i would like to know what are the best things to do in central park. Any advice is greatly appreciated?

NYC is awesome.. like to eat so I hit up places to get great food. Make sure you visit Lombardi's, America's First Pizzeria,established in 1905. Also hit up canal street and do some shopping down at china town.. don't be suckered into the cheap fake movado watches and the ghetto coach bags. Go to little Italy, which is next to china town. Wear comfy walking shoes. Go check out a play in the theater district. Walk around times square, go have some rocky road rice pudding, (accross from lombardis) Ride the subway like crazy, get lost and have fun.

Steve Brill used to have tours in Central Park in the 90s. He would take a group foraging in the park. They would look for edible mushrooms, herbs, root vegetables, berries, etc. I don't know if he still does it, but his walk through Central Park opened a lot of eyes. Outside of that are Shakespeare in the Park, rowboat ride overlooking the Dakota Building where John Lennon was shot. Strawberry Fields on the west side dedicated to Lennon. The Zoo at Central Park is really worth seeing. Anyway as far as real New Yorkers eat lunch on the great lawn.

Other than getting mugged, go on a horse and buggy ride, it would be kinda romantic, if you went on a date to do a buggy ride around the park
