I was bothered when my little sister asks me this question. Is it a sin to have an intimate relation to your immediate family or relatives, why? If so then how come people proliferate to millions when God created only Adam and Eve?

I think that many religions and cultures created a taboo against incest. I did a study while I was in college and had to write a term paper on the incest taboo. My studies revealed that the taboo was created by the elders because "Closeness breeds contempt." So the Elders believe that it was wrong and made it a rule. There was only one culture in the Himalayas that did not have this taboo.
Medical science has found out that when incest happens , and the girl gets pregnant, the baby turns out many times deformed. There was incest in the biblical stories but that does not make it right. The stories are there to show you that people are human and don't always do what is right. The only reason a sibling would want to have sex with a sister or brother would be for a sex act. Ask yourself if you would feel comfortable doing that. If your thought is yes, listen to that still small voice inside instead of the one that is tempting you. The answer should be no, I would not be comfortable doing that. I would feel like it is wrong. But more important, it is mentally and physically unhealthy in many cases.

Why do people think that God ONLY created Adam and Eve. The Bible states they were the first man and woman created... not the ONLY man and woman created!

If by "sin," you mean that some angry sky-god says it's bad and he will throw you into everlasting hellfire if you do it, then no--because the sky-god does not exist and hell is an imaginary place. It is, however, taboo in most societies because of the potential for physical and/or mental birth defects. Even animals avoid sexual relations with their nearest kin for the same reason. So, if you and your sister want to someday have children with seven fingers on each hand, then be prepared to deal with the social stigma, not to mention the difficulty of finding gloves that fit.

Sin is an explanatory fiction, primitive, barbaric and not very useful in the way humans conduct themselves. Human law is more effective. The Code of Hammurabi was a lot more useful than the sin concept.

There is no god. Therefore there can be no sin. The Old Testament has numerous examples of incest, which are conveniently forgotten by christians. Also there are examples of mothers eating their children, rape, slavery and any number of other things that a thinking, humanist aetheist would find abhorrent.

Some things just aren't explained well enough in the Bible and that is one of those hazy areas. Its a good question and it appears like it points to incest. I have no answer to that one either. Good luck. Pops

The concept of sin is void. The tale of Adam and Eve is fiction.

Because the laws of the land were completely different back then . God wanted them to populate this place , so It was considered duty to do so
