Endoscopy is about the only way to definitively prove someone does not have ulcers. Has she had that? There are other tests but they aren't as reliable. They can do tests looking for H-pylori bacter, (a type of bacteria that can cause ulcers,) but the results aren't reliable. I had ulcers, it didn't show on any test except for the endoscopy.

When people throw up violently, it is possible to break small blood vessels in the stomach. It makes a difference what color the blood is, and how much of it there is. A small amount of bright red blood, like a tbsp. or two, would indicate a ruptured blood vessel. Sorry, but some people do have a tendency to throw up violently. If it's been sitting in the stomach for a while, it will look dark, or like coffee grounds. If she is throwing up a lot of blood she should report to the nearest hospital and be admitted until they figure it out, for sure. There are medications to stop the throwing up, dramamine, compazine, zofran, tigan. If she had alcohol, even one beer before starting to throw up blood, I would still be suspicious of a bleeding ulcer.

I know you're concerned and scared. Try to get worried on evidence vs. what a doctor might *think* is wrong. There are many things it could be - gall bladder attack w/vomiting, mono, pregnancy, food poisoning?

I hope it is nothing more serious and will pray for you. Try to keep calm until you KNOW what it is, and encourage your wife not to worry too. Nerves don't help nausea.

if the doctors have ruled out ulcers, and she is still throwing up blood, has she actually been tested for cancer?

it maybe, and i am by no means a doctor, a type of stomach cancer, or it maybe acid reflux, or it might be a lot of other things. You just never know.

I would get a second oppinion. Go to a specialist.

My prayers are with you both.

email me if you like.

Sounds pretty natural for someone that has an ulcer. But, if it does turn out to be cancer, your wife should get treated right away.

Hey.

I have no medical explanation for you and I'm sorry you're having to go through this.

This link is to an online community forum that covers all sorts of health topics. I found a ton of emotional support here when I had health problems myself and I also got really good advice on how to help my very ill friend.

I wish you and your wife the best.
