I had my wisdom teeth pulled on Friday...no pain, no problems, so I know I dodged a big bullet...except that I can't eat any of my favorite foods for what seems to be a long time and gargling salt water is getting to be a little hard on my mouth...it's making my tongue and my soft palate raw. How long before I can get back to munching my favorite foods and is there any way to soothe the irritation from the saline mouth rinse?

HELLO,
SWISHING WITH SALT-WATER IS USEFUL, BUT GARGLING WITH IT IS REDUNDANT. THE SALT HELPS TO TIGHTEN THE GUMS BUT THE BACK OF THE THROAT DOES NOT NEED THE EXPOSURE TO THE SALT.

I couldn't eat solid food until I had the stitches out... and even then... the Dr said I have to take it slow... bcz I still had a lot of swelling.
I don't know what to tell you to do about the salt water... but eat soup! Or drink soup... do whatever you want with soup! The point is... food is always there... you have to do what the Dr said... that is if you want good results.

just do what you're doing for a week then be your normal self again :) for the mouth rinse, lessen the amount of salt you use until it feels just right for you :)

I recommend Corn-nuts and Sunflower seeds.
