Why stereotype folks. I am a Christian (for the most part) and I agree the planet is quite a few million years old. The sun is 5 billion years old. Some folks take the Bible at face value. 6 days? I don't think so. The Bible says that a day to God is as 1000 years to a man. Simply stated, it's a long dang time. It could be 6 long times. One could break it down like six stages. The first being the creation of light. This could also be the start of the Big Bang that some science agrees with. Take it from there. But I ain't a "freak" just because I believe in God.

I'm a scientist that also reads/studies the Bible. There are many scientific facts in the Bible that scientists scoffed at until it was proven. For example, that the earth is round. Christopher Columbus sailed "around the world" because he trusted the Bible more than the people that said the earth was flat.
I don't think you or anyone else that hasn't read the Bible can say it's rediculous. Read it before you make a statement like that. I've read the "One Year Bible" a couple of years. It split up so you can read it in a year. What is so amazing and so humorous is how much of our society and so many "sayings" that people use everyday are right out of the Bible. I just chuckle whenever "non-religious" people use sayings out of the Bible!

Cosmology: Universe 14-15 billion years. Earth and Sun 4-5 billion years (2/3). Dinosaurs 200 million years. Man 100,000 years.
Bible: Creation day 1. Earth and Sun day 4 (2/3), Larger animals day 5. Smaller animals day 6. Man at the end of Day 6 just before God rested.
Bible 3,000+ years old
Science books 200+ years old
Carl Sagan: The Universe is 30 days old and MAN came along in the first seconds of the first hour of the 30th day and we are still in that hour.
The Bible: Man came along in the last minutes of the 6th day.
The Bible is 3,000+ years old
Carl Sagan is less than 90 years
Science is less than 200 years
Bible, Jesus restoring life with a touch of his hands 2,000 years ago
Science, man restoring life with a touch of his hands (CPR) 50 years ago
How come they are SO SIMILAR to a 3,000 year old book!
Why does it take SCIENCE so LONG to catch up with the BIBLE
Jesus walks on water.
Well, let's wait for the future

The Bible never mentions 5000 years. Where did you get that?
You are confussing creationist with Christians. Christians are people who follow the teachings of Christ in the New Testament. Creationists are a relative few who make up stuff based on the Old Testament (Jewish) Bible

Depends on who are you talking with among the Bible readers. Why don't you ask those who have the authority to answer your question. Do not just blurt out what little things you know about and judge the religious as freaks.
Grow up.

Probably because the Bible is more useful for getting the important things accomplished.
If you want a better mousetrap, computer or iPod, ask science.
If you want to scare the sheep then shear them, use the Bible.

Doesn't science change? You need to know that the chances of this Creation coming into existence from zip is impossible. Even honest scientists have come to not deny this FACT.

It's called Faith - it's what we choose to believe, plain and simple. It's what we're comfortable with, it helps us face the future knowing where we are going and give us something to measure up to everyday. I feel sorry for someone who refuses to believe in something because there is no supporting data that he feels is tangible. I also feel sorry for the person who resorts to name calling i.e. "freaks" because someone has a different set of beliefs and values.

science does not know everything but is building on previous knowledge, as time goes by more and more proof comes to light that the bible is just a book of fables
