The Encyclopedia

Seems like my general question asking happens online any more. World almanac is largely replaced by CIA World Factbook (as most often that is the type of question I would pose to that book - which I did love as a child). Then there's Wikipedia. I send a LOT of questions at IMDB. And for general questions there's Google. Sometimes moneycentral and yahoo finance and morningstar - but decidedly less since I discovered ETFs.

For pure paper books...there's still the Columbia Encyclopedia and Azimov's History of the World. And the occasional coding book (almost anything PHP - the technology book du jour changes quickly partly because I learn and move on, partly because technology changes - PHP is just the latest thing I always have to look up).

As many have stated, it depends on the question.

The #1 book I reach for is the Bible, because it contains the answers to most of the questions that I have.

#2...Well, the internet has kind of spoiled me, my other books are kinda gathering dust. Instant information at our fingertips is a two edged sword. I can get info on car repair, roof framing, meds, health issues, history, genealogy.....it is a seemingly endless source of information.

It's not always the same book....nor do I always reach for a book.

Sometimes, I just ask!
Sometimes, I ignore the question, take life as it comes and assume that the question will be answered in it's own time, in it's own way.

Sometimes, I actually look in the Bible....and it does help to lead me to the place where the answer will be found.

It depends on what kind of answers i'm looking for. If i'm looking for answers for my chemistry homework, i'll go to my chemistry text book. if i'm looking for answers to a personal spiritual question, i'll most likely go to the bible.

I reach for the Bible. The Bible is the word, the word is God and God is The Truth.

Bible for matters spiritual.
For general matters, I'll generally google, unless it's something involved, then I'll hit the library.
