They were created in the image of God therefore they knew nothing but what was before them and were happy. It wasn't until they ate from the tree of knowledge they were unhappy, because that was the first sin. They didn't know childhood, much like a deaf person that was born that way, never knows what they are missing by no sound.

Well, you have a good point. But I don't think their childhood was the biggest of their worries. Adam and Eve were not living happily in the Garden of Eden. They didn't know what happiness was! To know what hapiness is, you have to know what sadness is -- and to be able to distinguish one from the other. Before eating the forbidden fruit, they had no knowledge of good or evil. They had no experience with sorrow or pain, so they could not understand what happiness and joy were.
While so many fault Adam and Eve for what they did, it was necessary to bring about the full range of human experience --bad, and also good.

As "children of God" - they were children in the eyes of their heavenly Father. Adam and Eve were happy with their lives in the Garden of Eden - but - when they both, had decided to do their own thing (sin) ... "their eyes became open" - that is they saw that they were in the nude - stark naked and toxic shame entered in "because they were naked"; thus, making them unhappy and fearful of the very God who gave them every good thing (including happiness and each other). Adam and Eve didn't want God in their lives no more, after their sin and mankind has ever since been telling God to take a hike! God - being the loving God He is - obliged! (This is why God stays out of our business re: Hurricanes, disasters and hunger etc.).

They were living without cares. Without the knowledge of good and evil. Joy comes from choosing the right. They didn't know right from wrong yet so they really couldn't have happiness.
We don't know whether or not they started out as children... it doesn't say they were full grown old people in the bible does it?

How do you know they don't have childhood? They probably both 9 year old. Have you think about that possibility?

Since neither of them were working, had no responsibilities, and were free to do as they pleased, they had a "childhood". That's probably what they missed when they were ousted.

I never had one. I am a human being, not a creature of some sort.
