I was studying with a guy who was telling me that

How do you deal with your sexual desires if you can't have sex before marriage and masturbate. I was told it was a sin. Sometimes, you get all moody and cranky when sexual energy builds up. I am 20 and I don't hope to marry until the next 6 years. Is there away you can cope or what experiences do you have to share with me?

Jehovah's Witnesses are not prudes, and well-understand that sexual desire is inherent in being human. Interestingly, Jesus words at Matthew 5:28 would have applied to a female listener as well as to a male.

(Matthew 5:28) Everyone that keeps on looking at a woman so as to have a passion for her has already committed adultery with her in [the] heart.

As Jesus implied, a person does well to limit his visual temptations, and to resolve not to fantasize about improper behavior. Further, while Jehovah's Witnesses do not believe the bible to teach that masturbation is a "serious sin", they do believe that self-stimulation goes contrary to the best interests of a person hoping to remain chaste.

(Colossians 3:5) Deaden, therefore, your body members that are upon the earth as respects fornication, uncleanness, sexual appetite

Similarly, it may be wise to avoid association with those who insist on discussing topics related to sex and sexuality. Of course, this includes association via immoral programs on television, films, books, magazines, and the internet.

(Ephesians 5:3) Let fornication and uncleanness of every sort or greediness not even be mentioned among you, just as it befits holy people

(1 Corinthians 15:33-34) Bad associations spoil useful habits. Wake up to soberness in a righteous way

If these suggestions prove unsuccessful or undesirable for a particular Christian, he should recall the advice of both Christ and the apostle Paul...

(Matthew 19:11-12) [Jesus] said to them: “Not all men make room for [chaste singleness], but only those who have the gift. 12 For there are...eunuchs that have made themselves eunuchs on account of the kingdom of the heavens. Let him that can make room for [chaste singleness] make room for it.”

(1 Corinthians 7:36) But if anyone thinks he is behaving improperly toward his virginity, if that is past the bloom of youth, and this is the way it should take place, let him do what he wants; he does not sin. Let them marry.

Never forget that Jehovah God is interested in the well-being of his servants. Whether a Christian feels inclined toward heterosexual fornication or homosexual fornication, he can expect that God and Christ will give him the strength to overcome these sinful tendencies.

(Psalm 51:10) Create in me even a pure heart, O God, And put within me a new spirit, a steadfast one.

A youth asked: “Is masturbation an unforgivable sin?” Masturbation is not mentioned at all in the Bible. The practice was common in the Greek-speaking world during Bible times, and several Greek words were used to describe the practice. But not one of these words is used in the Bible.

Since masturbation is not directly condemned in the Bible, does this mean it is harmless? Absolutely not! Though it is not classed with such gross sins as fornication, masturbation is surely an unclean habit.

Even those not especially concerned with God’s viewpoint feel uneasy about the practice. For instance, Dr. Aaron Hass in his survey of the sexual practices of 625 teenagers reported: “The majority of adolescents who masturbated reported feeling guilty, ashamed, dirty, stupid, embarrassed, or abnormal.” Surely, masturbation is an unclean habit. But since “uncleanness,” according to the Bible, is a term that allows for a wide range of degree of seriousness, masturbation is not to be classed with such serious sins as fornication or other types of gross sexual immorality. Ephesians 4:19.

First, make sure that you strongly believe what the Bible says about all immorality. Search out these scriptures and think deeply about them. Stay away from anything that causes sexual arousal. Pray to Jehovah for help before, during and after you feel such urges. If you fail and do something wrong, seek his forgiveness and be determined not to do it again. Keep busy doing spiritual activities.
Associate with others of strong moral character. Lessen or terminate association with those who would weaken your resolve to stay moral.

Honestly, take a cold shower, read a book, watch a comedy or do something to take your mind off of sex and masturbation. Sooner or later you may masterbate, don't freak out, the only reason Onan (in the Bible, was considered to have sinned for excessive masterbation was because it was ALL he wanted to do!) He didn't want sex, he just wanted to do it HIMSELF, thus keeping himself from having children in god's eyes. So God punished him because he did it EXCESSIVELY! That's why its called "onanism" in some cultures.

Also, if you don't touch yourself for a few weeks (or less for some people) then you will have what is called a "wet dream" or a "nocturnal emission" where you have vivid dreams (seemingly real) where your body relieves itself of its 'stress' that has built up, its just natural.

Good luck!
