Naw. Most people can't carry a tune in a bucket.
"Sing like no one's listening, Dance like no one's watching."

Yes u should tell ur boyfriend he can't sing if he truelly cannot, but do it with him and not without. Record him if possible and then let him here it back. Karoke is an another avenue. If he can't sing here and with a tone of the same chord, he shouldn't quit his day job. Whatever!

Depending upon the type of relationship you have. Some people don't know how to tell their loved ones - the truth - without hurting feelings or offending. But if you think he's no good - just say - 'honey, I don't think you've got it - BUT - encourage him to keep trying. Perhaps you can direct him to someone who is 'professional' and he might believe them instead. But don't put him out to pasture too quickly....I recall when I was at Motown....many people did not think Diana Ross could sing.. and look what happened to her career and life. (smile)

Darling Hubby is pretty bad, too, but he knows it. He gets a few notes right here and there. But he is SO CUTE in his enthusiasm--when he sings, I know he's happy. I love to hear him sing! We just laugh together at how bad he is. We laugh when he throws me off.
Maybe you could say (and mean it!), "Hon, you're pretty bad. But you're adorable when you sing!" And give him a big 'ole kiss, then lead him in a singalong. : )

Yep... I ALWAYS tell my husband that he can't sing... and by ALWAYS I mean whenever he starts singing.
I told him with that voice... its even a crime to sing while taking a shower! :D
He knows I do mean it but not in a harsh way... but he still sings! :D I guess I have to add a rule in our house rulebook... that whenever he sings... he should be fined! :D That way... I could buy all the shoes I want :D

Just tell him not to book The Met yet... that's "The Metropolitan Opera House" in NYC... if you're not familiar!

Your his girlfriend, you're close enough where you can make fun of him for it and he shouldn't get butthurt. Tell him he's a great guy but he's a crappy singer. Doesn't mean he has to stop it though if it makes him happy.

As long as he's not planning on auditioning for American Idol, let the boy think what he wants. He's not hurting anyone (except maybe your ears).

Oh, no! Just let him enjoy himself. Music is for expressing joy. And he'll get better with practice.
