The problem with that a Impenetrable suit of armor is if it was built you probably couldn't move in it. All Armor be it Personal, Ship, Tank or on a Aircraft is a trade off. You trade weight for Mobility.
Look at the Suits work by Bomb Squad Techs. Yup it would probably stop any round shot of a .50 cal, But those guys look like the Pillsbury Dough Boy. NO OFFENSE TO Bomb Squad or EOD personal.
The Kinda Armour you talking about, "POWER" Armour has been around for YEARS in the Sci Fi community. Starship Troopers, The Forever War, and Armour, all have this idea.

What it boils down to is given the CURRENT Technical Levels, we are unable to produce a Powered Armour that would protect the wearer and offer a level of mobility that would make it worth wearing.
Problems to be solved
1 Power Supply??? Nuclear is possible.
2 Materials. Nothing we have would be any better in "Power" Armour then its Current uses
3 Actuators to move the Armour. There MUST be small enough yet strong enough to do the job, as well as performing the full range of motion of the Human body.
4 Sensors and Data Inputs. Otherwise out Warrior of the Future is Blind as a Bat and Deaf as A post
5 Life Support.
6 Computer Controls to Operate it.

On top of that, ANYTHING that is used on the battlefield should be as LOW TECH as possible. The Modern Battlefield EATS Equipment. I've seen it time and again, Looks GREAT on the computer, WORKS WONDERFULLY in the Lab, and it STINKS out in the world.

Mjolnir armor is an over 300 or 500 kg armor, used by Spartans.
Now the question is, "How can they wear that heaviest armor?"
The user of the Mjolnir armor is genetically created. They have been used as test many of them died because it was risky.
I don't know if some modern scientists are interested of it.
I've always wished to be a Spartan like John-117 "MasterChief"
By the way I agree about recruiting Spartans.

Dragon Skin has been proven ineffective. See: http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20070521/ap_on_go_ca_st_pe/army_body_armor_2

Chobham Armor remains the most effective armor. However, as Halo is presently offering this form of protection, then I submit it is readily available to a select group of soldiers and not readily part of the supply system of this planet.

Never. The best armor we have right now is Dragon Skin, and because of bureaucracy and government contracts, we can never get it into the hands of our soldiers.
